Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

unethical practices by managers

My manager seems to have count my sabbatical and time off against me and gave SL4, SL4 even when I don't deserve it. now it's costing me my job. He knows in his heart that he is doing me Wrongly. I hope GOD is watching him, and he will suffer for what he did to me. How can I contest it? what are my options?

It's apparent that, Intel touts "bonding leave", "sabbatical" as great benefits. And then these moronic managers ding you for taking these and employee ends up losing his/her job! What a shame!

I am convinced that this is totally unethical and intel should be sued for not taking strict measures to prevent managers from doing it.

In the short time, I don't think it's worth for me to file for ODR from HR. This may only change mine from ISP to VSP at the most. and considering both packages are same, I don't stand to gain much other than lot of anguish and stress. Am I right?

agree with @H47Fnbd-wag, as former HR I can 100% validate that HR primary function exists to protect Intel, not ees. ODI during RIF is useless unless your manager has physically assaulted you (and sometimes, not even in those cases) you will be wasting your time fighting this...

I think we have grounds for class action. The law and the commitment from Intel is to support during MLOA and bonding leave. If we can prove a direct correlation between the leaves and the performance ratings and layoffs, it would prove that intel did not honor that contract.

Based on info on this site alone, there is data to prove it.

You guys recommending to go to HR or an a open door are so cute.

HR exists to protect the company from employees. Not the other way around. You go to HR you're giving them ammo to use against you and just wasting your time.

You know, this has been an age old problem at Intel which I've brought up before. While they SHOULDN'T ding you for not contributing for 2(+) months off, and instead look at the 10 months knowing full well a person can't do 12 months of work in 10 months... they still do ding you. Not fair but doubt you can change their mindset. I don't think a lot of the managers are good at thinking logically. I'm not badmouthing them... a lot of them are extremely smart but I think the logical part of our brains is in a different area than book smarts (which is what they have with all their degrees and PHD's). I've been amazed at how 'stupid' some really smart people at Intel are. I've decided I'd rather be logical/have street smarts than have a boatload of degrees. lol

ODI is useless. Got one and never got answers to my complaints. ODI investigator was lying into my face, and I couldn't say anything because by that time they got my laptop with all the emails I could use as proof.

There will be 100's of ODI's, I say spend your time job searching. I did the ODI and it did absolutely nothing. If its discrimination then you have a case. HR and manager will go to your personal file, feedback from peers and build another case against you to justify their decision. It's a loosing battle and hopeless. Start calling your contacts to find a new job. Intel is going down slowly but surely. This company will be 50K in 2-3 yrs. You wouldn't want to work there anyways.

You are SOL.. It happens if they look for folks to meet distribution and you have lousy managers in the peer reviews.. Ours were brutal this year...

Open door review by HR is how you contest it. Contact HR and ask for one. Hopefully it's not too late. My gut says it's soon enough that it's not too late, and they're anticipating lots of ODR's. That and reviews will be expedited and completed in the next ~30 days.
