When they promoted flying the lgbtq rainbow flag at campuses i knew intel had gone over the cliff in tring to be pc and the worlds diversity leader. This layoff seems to be intels way of moving in new diverse workers to up their minority % more rapidly. Why else would ceo be talking just yesterday about hiring more minorities at a time where the company is downsizing by 12k workers....

All new reqs that will come out after this action to replace lost workers will be filled with under represented minorities. That is what happened after last years action.

People say that this is not related to diversity. True, there are no diversity qualifications in the layoffs, but they do use focal ratings, which this year included "promoting the right people", which of course affects everybody's results. So yes, the layoff is taking race and gender into account, just indirectly.
This has nothing to do with diversity. Intel likes to paint themselves as inclusive.. they fire all races, sexual orientation... remember an SL4 is at your bosses full discretion and many boss are not white men

You know, before you complain about diversity, maybe you should learn how to write a sentence correctly. I'm amazed at you entitled-sounding engineers who can't spell to save their lives, and who can't put two thoughts together without resorting to schoolyard insults, complaining that your problems are all about diversity. Look in the mirror.
Quota system is the nail in the coffin for Intel.
They are targeting multiple agendas. Diversity hires, but more importantly seasoned, senior technical expertise that picks up the baton and drives forward transformation of a culture long overdue for cleansing.
I think it's a bit naive to think that 'hitting diversity quotas' is the reason they did this.
I think the whole concept of quotas is asinine -- but I don't think it was the primary motivator here.
