I have heard thru an Intel friend that last year, people were encouraged to leave their Minimum pension plan money in the plan....they were told "it will continue to grow".
What BS!
Due to historically low interest rates, the "Annuity Factor" today is at a record low....which means any minimum pension plan "Lump Sum" payout will be at a record high today.
Take the Lump Sum, roll into your IRA, and just invest it.
Buy the index or corp bonds and forget about it for 10yrs...you will come out ahead...BIG TIME!
Leaving it in the plan is essentially financial suicide.....but it's awesome for the company, since as interest rates go up, the Annuity factor goes down. And pension plan assets grow at a pathetic rate anyway.
Google Cordantwealth if you want confirmation.
