Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

If you are one of the lucky ones that doesn't get laid off

The GTF out asap, on your terms. It is always easier to find a job when you have a job and avoid the stigma of being "unemployed" for whatever reason!

@QTX - correct, these massive layoffs where it is in the media that the majority are due to "poor performance" negatively impact all ees who leave during the action regardless of their actual circumstances. Hence why so many people are deeply disturbed...these RIFs are not so easy to overcome once you leave Intel, people really need to understand this before assuming that gaining employment elsewhere will be "easy if you have Intel on your resume". In actuality, once impacted like this you can pretty much consider your entire Intel employment history wiped out. Always leave Intel on your own terms....best advice I can give.

Does it mean Intel hires mostly mediocre ppl time to time every year? Why don't they try to identify best ppl so that such a massive layoff is not needed. I think not employees but the company and its management has failed. Managers are insensitive and selfish and they are trained badly by HR folks. A hell onside Inhell I think!

That's right.. if you apply now and get an interview, due to this widespread news on Intel Layoff, all employers will suspect you are laid off/ISPed, regardless if u took VSP better you print out or copy related documentations, that will help as a backup to your next prospective employer. I had the sitautio last year (I took VSP), two mangers at new company scrutinized (indirectly) me over dinner if I am laid off and I should tell the truth (they also said someone did not tell the truth, they caught it, and cancelled the already offer position for the guy)... I kept myself cool and did not react as I did not need to...

They treat everyone as if all we were all mediocre employees as BK labeled the ISP folks last year. Its gonna be hard to get any company to respond to your resume. You will see.

So laying off people is not enough, you also have to ruin their future prospects for employment? How nice of Intel.

kfg - you are incorrect, I'm a former HRBP. When potential employers call for employment verification Intel will provide employment dates and the potential employer is allowed to ask if Intel would rehire the former ee back. All who are impacted and leave due to ISP are marked as "ineligible for rehire" and Intel will provide that information to a prospective employer. "Ineligible for rehire" is interpreted negatively by prospective employers. The OP is correct, it is best to leave Intel PRIOR to being impacted by any RIF.

No one will know how you left intel. If you call the employee info number to request employee verification they will only tell people your title and dates you worked for intel.
