Some people are hired to be fired later. There is an inner core group which protects its members and everyone else is on their own. A recently hired diversity candidate I know is finding this out that protecting ones assis job one at Intel.
kinda agree, when I was mentor to fresh new hires in my previous company, we have a great atmosphere for knowledge sharing, and good sharing spirit did get recognized by managers and peers. Now I am with this company, I felt it was hard for me to squeeze anything useful out of my mentor when I was on board years ago, and I hate myself who became 'that guy' like my mentor when I found myself mentoring some new hire last year --- still remembered my early days staying late at office figuring out sth new all by myself, O'nostalgia!
