In 9500 probably 4000 get VSP that's huge . Let's say 3000 VSPs so 7500 fired!!! Performance based firing !!
Grade 6/SL3/S - you should be fine. The worst that could happen to you is that you'll probably be put on a new project and likely get a new manager IF your group is impacted, but I highly doubt they'll hand you a pink slip.
My manager said he would do everything he can to get me there because I am already doing Grade 7 work. He also said due to meritocracy and budget it may not happen, so I was given that reality check. If you have anything helpful to add to my present concern that would be nice. I'm not really feeling up for editorial comments when I might lose my job.
"I'm working toward getting to Grade 7 next focal" - Sorry to break this to you, but you're not getting a 7 next year. You will be slogging your a$s for the next 3 to 4 years, and hopefully find a manager along the way who would sympathize with you and make your case for promo. No guarantees even then.
I'm not a super-new hire, but started last June '15. Grade 6, Stock level 3, Successful rating - which is apparently the highest my manager could give me considering I'm at Grade 6. I'm working toward getting to Grade 7 next focal (assuming I'll have a next focal). I have no idea what my risk is at this juncture.
