Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Thread for tracking SSG layoffs

With Renee gone and the MCM taken over by TMG folks (who are known to have been hostile to SSG), SSG folks are especially vulnerable. Please use this thread to track layoffs/VSPs/ISPs across SSG.

Please include your campus, division, impact and any other pertinent information.

Had interned at Intel SSG group. There is lot of redundant hiring in that department. The projects lack specific goals and the meetings were waste of time. Lot of brainstorming but not doing or presenting any real work. Engineers do know even know how many decimal places to include in their results and their presentations had numbers with 10 decimal places. Presented results verbally and on Excel sheet instead of putting together a power point / latex presentation. Very unprofessional. Hope BK realizes that they need to downsize. Ended up rejecting their job offer and I am very happy where I am working right now.

If Murthy can kill the Software and Services is the future nonsense, it will be a big step in getting back on track. This trend is dead with IBM, HP, etc. laying off their service staff en masse. The Indians charge the least and are cleaning up in this area. I would spin off/sell MacAfee.

Is it true SSG has 60 days to review projects and decide what to cut? If so won't there be more layoffs then?

SSG has a lot of dumb projects in the pipe. SSG and IT will be hit hard.
