I quit in Jan '16 after 7.5 years in PTD. Intel was a great company but they are very bad at mentoring and cultivating future managers. Case in point is PTD where a good program manager was made a scapegoat for the 14nm delays and the main culprit promoted to LTD manager. There are several other examples of complete dimwits promoted to module managers in the factories and support groups. PTD management still believes they are the best in process technology and nobody is close to them but the issues in 14nm node and the solutions they came up with for them were not just ridiculous but plain stupid. Every supplier understood at that point that Intel was groping in the dark for a way out of the mess while Samsung and TSMC had much simpler and better solutions. Intel became a very unhealthy place to work in the last few years. If you are an RCG and just started at Intel, this is a good time as any to move to another job. Don't waste your time and get yourself into the Intel straight jacket. Open your mind, go elsewhere and learn.

There's so much misinformation about Intel H1Bs on internet comment sections. H1B engineers make the same amount of money as the U.S. citizen. And the U.S. citizens work just as hard as the H1Bs.
BTW, I'm convinced 90% of the racist posts on this site are coming from a single person.

I'm one of those much reviled H1Bs who moved to my home country to start my own venture.
BTW the whole H1Bs get paid less meme couldn't be any farther from the truth at least at Intel. When I started I was paid ~ 12% more than people who had started a year earlier. Intel pays market rates for any given major with an added bonus for alma mater and research area at the G7 level.
Intel has some culture issues that are really anti productive, they just don't see it that way,
Any RCG's reading this?
1) Do you best always,
2) When you get a good promotion, change jobs. You will not get another promotion for ~ 3 years if you don't move on.
3) Don't plan on long term in any group. Intel expect you to do 10% more every year at your job.
1st year: You know nothing so you only produce about 80% - Satisfactory
2nd year: you figured it out and produce 100% - Meets Expectations
3rd year: You kill your self with unpaid overtime and you hit 110% - Exceeds exception and you get a promotion. (change jobs now if you know what is good for you.)
4th year: Same position Exception to be Satisfactory is 120% Work weekends and you can make it!
5th year: Pretty much impossible to do 130% so hopefully you got a new bunch of RCGs doing 80% so you look good.
6th year: The RCGs carried you through and you may get another promotion!. `140% required (12 hr days 6.5 days per week)
7th year: Sabbatical! Many spend it in the hospital.
I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to work for Intel.

Come on folks. Intel is a great place for an Intern and a RCG. Their mentoring program is great. Having been in industry for 35 years its one of the best intro to engineering situations I've seen.
However, I would say that you should serve your first 3-5yrs at Intel and then leave. Don't become a lifer at ANY company. This is not an Intel only problem.

I qualified a few months back so I'm obviously over age 50 since the Rule of 55 requires that you be at least 55... I'm still there. Was just waiting for a package to take on my way out. I'm VERY ready to move on. Just wasn't going to do it without a package and figured I could wait a few months more for one before opting to leave without one. Things all work out! I am very happy right now. Can't wait for Monday to get the details! :)
My daughter is graduating next month and I asked her not to apply to Intel. She has a job offer and starts July with another company.@Intel you work your assoff and right before you qualify for the retirement and hit the age 50 they will lay you off
