"Has anyone heard about more store closings in April?" If you have a Sears company email id (or have a friend that has one) you can logon to a work station in any store or a computer at home with this link "https://vendorportal.searshc.com" and see all of the Sears and Kmart stores that have closed and all of the stores that are scheduled to close for the next 3 months. They are only posted 3 months in advanced. I used to check this daily until my job was eliminated in March.

Has anyone heard about more store closings in April? We just heard that one of the largest Sears stores in our district is going to close in one of the busiest malls. Any one have any news we are in the Buffalo district.

Is that you Eddie? Only Eddie could say such an a--hole remark to those people that have put so much of their life into Sears and loose their job. Some of those people not only lost their jobs but could more than likely loose their car, their house and have a very hard time making it. Some of them more than likely will also have a hard time finding another job. Dick Wad.

I'm sorry to this day as well Ex QMT, but stop giving us your sob story of being let go 19 days before your 38 anniversary. It's gotten way past old. It's unfortunate that it ended for you like it did, but move on. You're acting a like a 20-year old kid pining over a girlfriend that dumped you when it was clear the relationship wasn't going to last forever.

Lay off, fire, eliminate position...what's the difference? You're still out of a job.

I knoiw that there are some part timers care greatly! I did not want to offend anyone! In my store they are few and far between and the hours are cut so much that they need to get a second job ! The managers then get upset that they can't be available on a seconds notice when they need them (like a unexpected truck) apologies is I upset someone

This is response to the "part time associates don't care" well let me tell you some part time associates care more than your full time associates....plus more than the STAFF...

How true do you think it is about full time being replaced by part timer? It would definitely be cost saving, has anyone really heard any truth to this rumor?

We have signed this paper for years! I have heard that they are doing away with all full or FTA in the stores! They are going to end up with all part timers that don't care about the company! And why should they???

You are right about layoffs ,I have never seen associates being officially layer off, usually hours are just cut and cut, some people do sign up for unemployment but many just quit. In a way I am surprised that full time associates have not been replaced with all part timers. But in my Sears store full time people are still getting at least 37 to 40 hours , part time varies but more hours are being given out. I guess we will be the last to know what is really happening in the stores.

And by the way. There are no Layoffs with Sears or Kmart. 38yrs I was with Sears I have never heard anybody being laid off . They were either let go or their job was eliminated. I have no idea where people keep calling these Layoffs. They are Eliminating Jobs. If you can come back (I have no idea why anyone would come back) your hours and pay will be cut and you will still have to put up with even more BS.

I was told they are going to do away with FT40. All associates will be FT30 or part time. That way they can work you only when they need you and based on the amount of customers in the store that will not be much. A lot of upper management took the lump sum pension and left back in Feb because they can see the writing on the wall. My job was eliminated on 3/4/16 just 19 days before my 38yr anniversary on 3/23/16.

I don't know if you would consider this a layoff but in my Sears store two full time associates were told that if they would not sign a paper stating they were able to work any hours the store was open, they would have to give up being full time. Both associates went down to part time and had their hours cut . One person has already left Sears and it is not very easy to even hire good workers anymore,. I have no idea what corporate is doing to Sears.
