Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Why do people click on posts...

...that obviously don't have any responses AND what the OP posted is so short it's obvious that you can read the entire post without clicking on it (doesn't have a blue link that says 'More'?

And yes, it's a serious question. I see it happen a lot and curious minds want to know. :)

Thanks.

Thanks for letting us know about the recently added Active button. Makes things a lot easier. This site keeps getting better and better. It was sure cumbersome a year ago.

Oh my gosh! Where've I been @1sje?? LOVE the Active button (now that you pointed it out. lol) SOOOOo much easier than what I was doing. Thank you!

No sluggishness here. I don't access via cell phones. I'm hardwired in. I noticed that you don't even have to hit the refresh button for the 'last post' times to update which is pretty cool.

Good points @1qfa - at least you've had some impact here (cannot say the same about Intel) - I use "Active" button that they've recently added to the main page - that sorts posts by 'most recently replied to' - that's the view that's most interesting to me...

they can improve this site quite a bit - i think it has some potential to become like a general bulletin board for intel

how is the layoffs.com performance on your side? I am using it mostly on my personal phone (AT&T) and it's fairly sluggish

I'm the one that asked the admin to add the time on last posts since it was a waste of time clicking to see if anything changed @1lmw. :) I'm also the OP of this thread. :)

Lol, I've wondered that same thing myself. Like you, OP, I also look at the number of replies and how long ago the last reply was to see if I really need to click on the link.

Good point about the post header hyperlink. I'm guessing people are looking for those since they stand out much more than the stats below so click on them. I look below them to the # of replies and how long ago the last reply was.

Interesting... At least to me. LOL (I'm the OP). Thanks for your 2 cents. :)

I think there is a ton of new users that are mislead by the hyperlink in the posts header. Once you click, you basically get the same post in a different format. I've been on this site since January and I am trying to figure out patterns as well.

There is definitely a strong correlation between number of replies and number of views on a post. Most of posts that do not have that 'view more' link do not get much views.

Also, look at number of FB shares - it's been going up over last few days, so I am assuming they have more new visitors who do not know how to use the site

just my 2 c
