Get ready. Another round is coming. Who wants to list your fantasy bracket of campuses that are to close?

AIP culinary is in teach out starting this quarter. This is official and not gossip. They have not announced full school teach outs but I believe it is because they want to keep it out of the press as long as possible. The days are numbered.

Would EDMC really close the Pittsburgh school? It was the first?

The bulk of the small Ai campuses are actively in teach-out, but I anticipate hearing about teach-outs for Portland and Fort Lauderdale (accreditation issues), another one of the Southern California locations (market over-saturation), and the locations in Minneapolis and Durham (declining enrollment). For Argosy, Seattle is actively closing, but those that are not far behind include Salt Lake City and Dallas (enrollment), Sarsota (location), and Hawai'i (cost). Argosy locations may all be safe (including Ai So Cal) until they have made it through their accreditation visit within the next year.

I anticipate additional closures among Brown Mackie to include Boise, Dallas, and Atlanta--but those are purely speculative. South's locations are likely safe with the exception of one of the NC Ai locations (likely Durham).

The Art Institute of Pittsburgh is done. I worked with corporate real-estate and learned that the school turned down the offer to renew their building lease. They have downsized (got rid of IDT) but also moved many corporate offices in October to the building. What makes me certain is when I asked about when they would get the details for kitchen design (culinary is a large program at the school) for a new location- I was told by management (still social) that they were not going to be building new kitchens. No culinary (largest program) then what about the rest of the failing school? I don't think the school will close in June but expect teach outs to be announced in May just like last year. It is sad because at one time is was a great school. The lease is up next Spring - 2017. A May announcement could get the school pretty much graduated or moved on. If needed they could lease a much smaller space to wind down the programs or force students online. Art Institute and Argosy teach-outs are expected. South makes money and Brown Mackie isn't getting a lot of discussion in my circle.

Anyone have a bracket? I am curious to hear predictions and justifications.
