Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Recommend laying off 10% of Intel employees

Intel can layoff 10% of its employee and it will not impact execution and innovation. There are too many redundant and non-critical positions at Intel. You can see this every day especially in management, marketing, and other non-engineering positions which can be gone today and it would not be notice at all.

In summary too many VPs, managers, non-engineers which don't add to the bottom line, i.e. execution and innovation which is lacking at Intel. If you don't agree with this just go down to Google and this will become obvious.

Don't post any more suggestions since I love my job at Intel where most of my daily activities are asking for status reports, e-mails, and power points all for a six figure salary is really great. If I get layoff I doubt I will find a similar job which pays even close to what I make at Intel.

When they promote 13 fellows and 50 VP's in one go you know things are bad.

But remember - management and HR enable each other and will always watch each other's back. So I don't expect any fix for how top heavy we are, since only management or HR can do it.

Intel = Federal Government in all ways that matter (bureaucracy, results, focus on innovation, politics for self service, etc, etc). Of course you could cut 50%. The real question is will that do anything long term or would you be better off trying to change the culture?
