Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

10% cut now...

Personally Worked for WFT for 15 yrs... Manager kindly placed everyone on 40 hrs a few months back and he was truly sorry. He was never effected with any shortage in pay. Working hourly is very tough, when we were able to work 60-70 hrs and they cut you back to 40 hrs a week you just lost >40% of your annual salary. Now you throw in the fuclough plan of 10% you just lost 50% of your lifestyle. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason... The lord placed me in this position for a reason and I'm seeing the signs to better myself elsewhere. Married with 3 kids we all must survive. WTF management has retained my talents in the past and able to continue to entertain my interests with the spill that things will get better. I'm sorry but things are not getting better. Currently I'm doing a job that would normally utilize many people, engineer, designer, procrument, inspector, tester, shipper, supervisor, machinest, plumber, electrician, driller, and leader. With these talents I'm very marketable. I would really hate to let my team down and the projects that are reliant on my dedication to solve the concerns that nobody else can easily but I'm being called elsewhere. To the manager that crying over his 10%.... Work for 50% of your pay like it's year 2001 and see if you're bright enough to find higher paying job that's enjoyable.... After speaking to others I don't feel as bad because they too are also halfway out the door. Happiness is the quality of attitude and having the courage and wisdom to change the things that one can...

Very well said groM8Vy-uba...This cry baby thinks Weatherford owes him something just because he thinks he has a "marketable skill" If you really think because you are special and Weatherford is going to pony up and give you more money you better stay well clear of the office when they start the drug tests.

Again instead of whining and crying for something that isn't going to happen why don't you just balls up and volunteer for a layoff and move on to a better paying stable job...Oh wait...That's right there is a DOWNTURN and there is nothing available for you.

That's the problem with this company. If it didn't have such poor management and a poor poor leader, everyone could've been treated equally within the company. It's terrible to think one division can supplement a failing one and expect no domino effect in return. I can't believe it's taken this long for your division to reduce overtime to zilch! If your division would have been on board with the rest, it wouldn't have been such a part of the deficit we see today! No OT started in Feb of 2015!!! On top of that, they should have offered the furlough right away because it would have saved thousands of dollars having to layoff people!! Then they could have utilized the drug tests to eliminate the liabilities and save costs even more. This is just unbelievable!

Sorry that you don't have marketable skills and instead rely on "seniority" which does not necessarily translate to marketable skill. If WFT wants to keep us (the marketable ones), it had better pony up the cash and soon.

It just amazes me that you people come on this sight like little whining cry babies because you have had to take a pay cut...It's a DOWNTURN Einstein. Just be happy that Weatherford has put some blind faith in you and your abilities and have tried to retain you though this. Be happy that you have retained your health care and seniority that many have lost.

There are thousands of people including myself with a lot more seniority that have been RIFed in the last 18 months that would of happily taken a pay cut if it would of saved their job. If you are so convenient in your skill levels that you can get another job at a drop of a hat why don't you volunteer to be made redundant??? I'm sure you would make someone happy who is really trying to hold on to their job.
