Thread regarding Follett layoffs

So a little birdie told me that the new cuts won't be layoffs. They'll be tuition reimbursement and bonuses.

WTF is this response "Those in finance has had a talk with the CIO and his trips overseas with staff. The costs were planned and have minor impact. It was explained it wasnt wise to continue any of these extravagant trips and to utilize their video technology they have in place." THE COSTS WERE PLANNED AND HAVE MINOR IMPACT!!!!!

Do you know what these expenditures say to every hard working employee that will not get a merit, pays more for health care, other benefit reductions? It is a slap in the face and a clear signal that Follett does not give a sh-- about you. IT is going to India throughout the year not just once. Isn't it funny, IT is the department that has remote work/telecommute options, yet they MUST go to India quarterly because they can't use conference and video technology. That technology is only good enough when they are sitting in their pajamas at the kitchen counter at home.

The only reason to stick around is to hope for severance. If you aren't near retirement or can't afford to be unemployed for an unknown period, flee. Follett has all the signs of a company that is going under. The cuts will keep coming and eventually there will be nothing left.

Again Follett is laying people off - taking away things that make people stay due to financial issues.

The Follett Family and Board members will all see their money so they could careless.

Guess they forget who helped them get that money!

Ohh and let's not forget SS two times a year trips to India.

Tell me again why I should stay and wade out this depressing time at Follett?

The moral sucks and keeps getting worse.

Brace yourself for next week or the week after. Field cuts won't be as obvious as what happened in Westchester last month since will be spread over the retail store landscape. But don't fool yourself into thinking they won't be significant and brutal.

There will be more job loss. Unannounced.

Oh....and great irony in the higher ed text/bookstore company is dropping tuition reimbursement. Made my day.
