Tagging on to "rude dumb bunnies" comment. Nasty people at IBM Canada. Karma - include Canada in your 14,000 layoff due to lots of deadwood that should have been let go years ago but kept their jobs through politics only. Poor training and funny thing is...contractors don't even bother to do any training requirements and they still keep their jobs. What a joke!

The GBS organization sucks. Partners and AP's try to sell work which is overpriced and clients are smart to obtain same services from other firms at 30% less, likely with better deliverables. When they do win an engagement, they look to staff it with CBD'rs (band-6 out of college recruits with no meaningfull consulting experience). Glad to be moving on.

I would not reccommend IBM to my worse enemy. @GkhFEN-sri was on point. I was on the layoff list last week after nearly 36 years with IBM. I will walk away with no pension. Don't forget IBM eliminated their pension plan in 1999 (10 yrs service + age 40 to qualify for the old pension plan). If you didn't qualify, IBM converted to a paltry cash plan they stopped contributing to when the did away with it in 2007. New hires get nothing but a reminder to start a 401k.

I think everyone would have to acknowledge this site does not necessarily represent the most objective and unbiased views of IBM as an employer.....so maybe the original poster should look elsewhere for input???

An inane question given the amount of information on this site. You seem like someone who needs a lot of help, even with the obvious. I would submit IBM is not the company for you.

I worked for IBM Server Group for 23 yrs. Since 2010 I have seen small or no raise, reduced benefits, increase in medical premium, loss of future medical benefits, decrease in 401K contribution etc to name a few. Have to be employed on Dec 15th to collect company 401K contribution. Now only one month of severance pay. Everybody is trying to justify their position and no innovation, just charts and task force meetings. Their IP portfolio is bunch of bullshit. The IP office works to file any idea possible. No clear direction of future, execs clueless.

They take the garbage out once a week, lobby smells, once a month office vacuum, no plowing of snow for the all the parking spaces and no water cups for holding water. It is ridiculous. People bring their own vacuum cleaners. Left on my own term few years ago. Hard but best decision of my life. More money, better benefits, job security, respect of individual. I would suggest get out as fast as you can. No value in staying even if you are close to retirement. If they offer bridge to retirement and other package take it and run.
