Anyone heard when next round of layoffs are expected and how many? Heard from several friends those are coming soon, especially in the US.

We need some major reorgs in TMG. Lot's of people are hoping that since Bill Holt is leaving that Sohail Ahmed and Ann Kelleher will shake things up by doing some much needed house cleaning. We'll see what happens but we'll likely just get more of the same. Nothing really major ever seems to happen at Intel (unless an internal memo get's leaked to the press, then it seems like a major event).

I can't think of one instance where Intel has bought the leading company in it's field (leading MSS, profit, whatever, etc). It's always "the dog" / cheap company. On the other hand if you look at an expert investor like Warren Buffett, leading companies is just about the ONLY thing he buys.

3dej and 4erl you are not living in the real world. Of course Intel's financials are good... just as they were last year when people were laid off. Financials do not equal layoffs - your logic is flawed. And continue life as usual... yes, usual is for layoffs to happen at Intel. Intel layoffs are usual!

Just heard from BK no layoff this year so no need to panic and continue life as usual!

This is BS. Intel has good profits and our financials are solid. I do not see any layoffs in the near future.

If you are not prepared for layoffs, then you have no business in this industry

Seeing senior management scurrying around for sudden ops-reviews, expect it around the April May timeframe. Great time before the sabbatical season.
