Well, at least we know what SSL5 means and should not be a surprised. Start looking for a job and hopefully the ISP and your new job offer align perfectly. Collect a fat check and start your new job and all will be goooood.

Good luck

Went? It's not over for several weeks. It doesn't happen in a day you know.

For some it went well. For others, not so much. It doesn't really matter every year is the same.

So how did everybody do? Any BE's or IR's? Who got the EE?

4adl, yes that's exactly how it works at Intel. My experience as well. (By the way the one part that's true is the medical discount - COBRA is free for a couple months when you're fired).

Remember folks there are no forced distributions and quotas just like how we always hire the most competent candidates for the job regardless of race and gender.

Now will the randomly selected candidates please put on the blindfolds and line up against the wall. Just a harmless survey to provide greater discounts for next year's medical premiums. oh look most of these folks are old white males. what a coincidence...

As for not being nervous around this time, I've seen far too many deserving people get hosed to say that you can feel safe no matter what. "You had a promo quality year" turn into successful SSL3 and the like.

I'm not nervous because there's always something else out there, but I know enough to go in with low expectations no matter how well my manager says I did during 1:1s.

Hmm @-3syo you are not very bright or work in a group with a bunch of loosers like your self.. I've been with the company for 30+ years and just received my best increase+stock since the glory days.. it's time for you to leave for greener pastures. Don't lump all folks into your warped view of the world. It's pathetic

I'm not an old fart @-3syo. I'm retiring early because I can. You should be so lucky when you become an old fart. Right now you're just an a--hole, being an old fart comes later.

You old farts should just quit Intel now. You are just a drain on the employee base with minimal contributions. Bunch of leaches.

LOL @ working since 1984 and wanting to be retired. I SOOOO get it! I started part time jobs as a kid back in 1975 and kept on going till today. I'm so burned out from all the politics, crappy tools, red tape, entitled attitudes and BS. I'm done. Just getting those final few ducks lined up. :)

Good luck to you as well. :)

Understood. Best of luck. We all have our limits. I've been debating as well. I got the ISP last year and have a new job but not sure how long more I can do this.Been working since 1984. Cheers

For a few reasons that I'm not going to spell all out here. A forum like this is really not the place to put that kind of personal info in writing, even as anonymous.

Suffice it to say that if you were a personal friend, and I told you the reasons, you'd go "Ahhhh... I get it now". :) All my close friends know my reasons and also know I can't WAIT to get out of here. LOL Even though I could leave today, it's actually better for me to stick it out a little bit longer to get those final few (personal, non-business) things done that I need to do first. But I'm telling you... if they tempt me with a package I just might not care about the timing of those few things. LOL

And to answer your question "Why stick around for god knows how long just to cash in more money."... it's either going to be this year or next. I couldn't stand it much more than that. Fingers crossed it's this summer! My parents ask me on a weekly basis "Are they offering packages yet??" LOL

If you are ready why not just retire. The VSP pkg after all the taxes is not a lot of money to make a difference. Retire and enjoy life. Why stick around for god knows how long just to cash in more money.

I'm not stressed out during focal because I just don't care (read: I no longer need a job). I'm planning on retiring early (years before age 60) either this year or next. If an opportunity (VSP, it won't be ISP, I got a promo recently) presents itself earlier, then yay! I'll take the money with a smile and a thank you and go. That's really all I'm sticking around for because I HATE working here. I'm ready to move on and enjoy my life. I'm hoping for this year because I REALLY don't want to still be here next year. I'm done working.

If you are not stressed out during Intel focals, you should be on the next ISP. Intel management is very anal about focals and those who do not take it seriously are usually forced out.

You have an incorrect comment there @-2xxp (This is a stressful time for all employees). Not "all employees" are stressed about their focal. Some of us know we've done well and others just don't care. I fit into the latter group.

There are enough SSL 4-5 to go around this year... I just received my review and was pleased with the outcome.

Hope all goes well. This is a stressful time for all employees and basically determines your employment. Hopefully they are up front with you and don't mislead you like they did to us "ISP folks".

Hang in there

You're not working your ass off for the same 2% @-qoj, you're working your ass off to either be one of the top 5% (# you said), or remain employed for another year.
