Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

EDMC will officially close Thursday, June 30th, 2016 - Spread the word to everyone!!!

Firstly, you can choose to believe me or not, as I really do not care either way. As we all are aware, this is a seemingly anonymous website, to some extent, and any information garnered from here must be taken with a grain of salt. You may choose to believe me if you wish. If you do, which you should, good job: make plans to find another position, as soon as possible, which I would hope you are doing anyway. If you do not choose to believe me, then I suggest that you continue rearranging the chairs upon the deck of the H.M.S. Titanic and continue to enjoy living in a fantasy-land of ignorant bliss. I am completely serious regarding the following information and, while I completely understand that I provide absolutely no evidence for my statements, I assure you that you can rely upon them. Of course, it is up to you.

While I am not directly an EDMC employee, nor have I ever been, I held a position that allowed me unique access to all aspects of organizational operations at EDMC. Within the last month, I accepted an offer with an international firm and have left my previous position, so I feel I have nothing to lose. I do not fear discovery, but. in actuality, encourage it and want leadership to strain themselves attempting to find out my true identity. It will not be that difficult. I write this from the comfort of a luxury hotel suite in another country, behind a vast shield coated with extensive layers of legal and financial protections.

In my experience, as one would expect, the higher in the organization that one goes, the more corruption is apparent. Those at the top already have their hands on the rip cords of their golden parachutes and are counting down the days until the entire place implodes. They fear organisations like the DoE and FCC busting down the doors before they have had the opportunity to finish the shredding. Believe it or not, they do fear this website and other mediums of corporate leaks. Continue to leak any information that you can, and if your IP has been blocked, use a proxy server or a different location to post whatever you can. Leadership checks this site probably twice as much as all of you do, so rest assured that it will be seen, in one way or another. That is what makes positing this information so exciting: they know the information that I am about to reveal is correct, and now they know that all of you know, which they fear. You will be able to see it in their eyes and in the eyes of everyone on every campus. When your boss tells you to meet your numbers, it is because their boss is saying the same to them, but the actual important information is that which is not being said at all, and that is the impending doom that is a total organizational closure draws closer with each day. You will find that if you ignore their greedy demands and their empty threats, that they are truly powerless, as the entire place is a sinking ship and they will not terminate you, because they still need you, at least for a few more months. Once you realize this, the tides will turn and you will have the power. Use your work time to apply to other organizations, surf the net, check Facebook, and of course, post all the dirty rumors and confidential information that you can to this site. Speaking of confidential information, I have some for all of you.

How am I privy to this information? An associate within the company sought my advice regarding several issues surround the closure of EDMC, and the date that I am going to provide was included during these discussions. Furthermore, I was able to confirm the accuracy of this information through multiple corporate sources, including KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, for those of you in management who are abbreviation-challenged) and Goldman Sachs. Thus, I am confident that the information that I have ascertained from multiple, reliable sources, is true and can gleefully inform all of you that the final day of EDMC will be:

Thursday, June 30th, 2016.

Yes... Ladies and gentleman, that is the day. Circle it on your calendars.

This is the final day of the fiscal year. One of the reasons for this date is that it will allow organizations to dump this toxic organization and its associated liabilities during this fiscal year. Additionally, there are several important clauses that are triggered July 1, 2016 with organizations such as the Department of Education and a handful of financial firms that EDMC will avoid in order to limit the damage that this will cause to all of the stakeholders involved.

Previous predictions on here regarding a major June event are accurate. Additionally, a recent accusation regarding an extramarital affair with the spouse of a current employee is true as well, as I have been a party in this relationship. It was only after the spouse found out about the current employee's infidelity that we began our relationship. Although I am currently outside of the country, the spouse and I have spoken numerous times recently and have plans to continue our relationship, whenever I return to the area.

There is a lot of truth among the craziness that is this website. Believe what you want to believe. This post will certainly be talk of the town tomorrow. I have multiple copies in case this one is taken down and will distribute them through other modes, if needed.

Spread the word!!!

I am a current employee who recently accepted a position with another organization, so I feel I have nothing to lose.

Mrs. Matt Martin for an extended period of time.

Additionally, a fraternity brother associated with KKR has informed me that EDMC will close its doors on Thursday, June 30th, the final day of the fiscal year.

I am going to post this reply on the main page, as I am sure that some people are interested, as well.

ITT will file for bankruptcy this week. the Department of Ed will now focus their attention on doing the same thing to EDMC. The Art Institutes are under the same show cause with ACICS and on probation (ITT was just a show cause). EDMC will fail by November. Sorry, I actually loved working there and working with the students.

I must say that I too, am doing the happy dance! I just happened to work for AiPh and a Middle States accredited university at the same time. I, along with other faculty was lured into developing curriculum and syllabi for the ACICS review. I had NO idea what was to come. I knew something was amiss. Especially when both the admission counselors and the program directors were lying to the new bachelor's degree students about how they could take said bachelor's degree and continue their education at the very Middle States university (a master's degree!) where I was on faculty as well. As I continually protested to the contrary, the students were caught in the middle and I was in the midst of being reprimanded. To avoid the risk of being without income for 3 months, I quit! I wanted to show my students that there was a faculty member who cared about their education & future as well. Also, as this drama is unfolding I had a copy of the departmental email (from my other school!) stating that they would NOT be accepting transfers or bachelor's "degrees" from AiPh. As a result, word got around that I taught in the very department in the very school where AiPh graduates wanted to go. I became the "go-to" person for admissions advice. Once I informed them of the true state of affairs (advised them to read my copy of the email!), the dean became upset and I decided then that this was not the place for me. I even remember hearing several of the admissions counsellors discussing "making numbers". It's been a bit of a financial struggle, but so much less stressful. Not knowing what to do or how to help my students. So glad the chickens have come home to roost!!!

I wish nothing but the worst to EVERY single individual that worked for this loathsome corporation! I hope you find it impossible to land a job, ANY JOB, with EDMC on your resume! Do you realize how many young innocent financial lives you've ruined! You are human waste! Karma is real! And it's a motherf@#ker! And it's finally knocking on your door!

I worked at aifl and they had an acics visit in October 2014 it was so bad that the campus fired the dean. The campus actually fabricated documents to "show compliance". What a joke of a campus.

Why does the author of this post contradict him/herself? The 2nd paragraph, first sentence: While I am not directly an EDMC employee, nor have I ever been. Fourth paragraph from bottom reads: I am a current employee who recently accepted a position with another organization, so I feel I have nothing to lose. Doesn't make sense to me.

You fool! You shouldn't have spoken of our affair publicly - not even in veiled terms! As you've so rightly pointed out, it is easy to discover your identity, and now I will be found out, too! I thought we agreed on discretion. I feel betrayed, disillusioned. You ass! I hope you realize this means it is over for us. I couldn't possibly continue in a relationship no longer founded on trust. Good bye, and good riddance.

I can say that I know of at least 5 other colleagues along with myself that are looking aggressively for new jobs. 6/30 would make the most sense and I pity anyone who is still here to see when it capsizes.

Will I miss working as a corporate leech? No. Although this experience has made me seek out a different line of work - one which may not not pay as much but will let me sleep better at night. It will be nice to listen to my conscience again instead of trying to ignore it. I realize this makes me sound like one of "them" but after hearing the stories of what EDMC has done-- well, please show me one story where we have done "good" for someone? Anyone? Bueller?

There is no rebounding from something like this. Even if EDMC comes back using a fresh face, a different name and tweaks its recruiting strategy, the public has become very weary of ALL for-profits. David has awaken and he is pissed! Goliath is now feeling David's wrath and has nowhere to go but down! Outstanding job by those who have organized and led the push against corporate robbery. Take notice everyone! This is how you take down a giant!

Only time will tell regarding rumors like this. Not sure I believe it, especially the date--because this could lead to more bad stories about Goldman Sachs, KKR, and the Clinton family. Henry Kravis, though is a Republican, so the story is not out of the question. If EDMC does close, what happens to the schools? I cannot imagine all of the schools closing without at least a 1-year warning.

All of this is BS, drama inducing and random speculation on the part of the author to get this site buzzing again on something other than "who is sleeping with who, hot ADA's" and other useless garbage. Just like in years past, June will come and go and EDMC and the Ai branch will weather the storm. If you don't like working there, leave, if you work there because you have to (best option right now for you), then shut up and do your job of making sure the students get some kind of quality education. Maybe even focus comments on solutions that will stir the imagination in those that can provide change. In the end, it's important to look back and realize you yourself made an effort in the career you have chosen at the time, and we're not part of the fifth grade ramblings that tend to plaque this site. If your on the outside looking in, voice opinions that contribute, with some new input or ideas that will maybe change a view or help refocus. I'd love to hear some real ideas on how EDMC, as a reflection and example of the changing higher education, may be able to transform and clean up to go back to the quality it used to produce back in the late 90's and early 2000's. Goldman ruined this company and greed from higher up's the food chain who don't know how to run an educational blueprint destroyed this company. With the settled suit this past year, EDMC will sustain, continue to layoff and maintain the revolving door of staff and faculty, and place students in majors with no portfolio or entry requirments. I pray that change does happen so that my, yes my degree from Ai back in 2000 will still carry the pride it used to.
