Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

As one of the experts mentioned before, the price rise has started. We are all safe now. Cheers! No more layoffs.

More layoffs are happening as we speak. Our site is to loose a further 10% of the workforce.

There is no-one left that has the experience to be able to deal with any workload in the future.

Long term outlook is very bleak. The is some small upturn in oil prices per barrel, but the Saudi's and Iranians are keeping the costs low and will do so for the next 5-10 years at least. By that time, alternative fuels will be the norm as governments bring in stricter greenhouse gas limits. And Oil and gas firms have been warned not to cut costs too harshly, as they could "throw the baby out with the bathwater"....Too late the babies have gone too. Now there is only the old school that would cost too much to make redundant. Leave them til last then there is no money to pay them.

This is a joke, even though prices are slowly beginning to rise it doesn't change the fact that it still cost more to produce a barrel of oil than for what it will sell. No one is safe and like all economic situations there will be lag from when the industry recovers to when the business's financial situation recovers.... We are all innocent bi-standards of this unfortunate situation and no we cannot have peace of mind just yet.

Slb north America lost a lot of rigs, no drilling plans means more layoffs. Price at gas station or trade doesn't change the equation. Wake up and get ur resume up to date.

Let's be really real. No one can ever feel safe with SLB. Especially those over 55. Cameron employees beware. Years of service mean nothing. Ask any Smith employee.
