Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I'm going on year 23 at Intel.

I don't work directly for the factories (thank GOD...they SUCK...horrid cultures) but rather in corporate services. Most of my tenure has been on night shifts, which is like another world vs. days. Stress is only what you put upon yourself.

As long as the systems are up and everything is running in spec, it's a piece of cake. We'll probably get shut down within a couple years, so I'll just ride this pony until it drops dead out from under me. Intel CAN eat you up and I've seen it happen to others.

Some of the day shift jobs are pure misery and I HATE being here during those hours. I'll take my nights with 16% differential pay, no managers, no meetings and no bullshit, thankyouverymuch. I just hit the reset switch every morning after leaving the site.

Meanwhile, I'm off to work out at the company provided fitness center, followed by free coffee. It's not a prison, unless you make it one.

hey guys and gals, I been telling yall to get the hell away from arrogant Intel management, for years now.

I can only wonder what the stress level is there as the ship slowly founders, ala the Titanic, and Kra$$Rich collects the big dollars as he and Murthy swing the war axe, lopping off 12,000 heads.

I know people like you. You get comfy, you go home at 5pm, but you are building in a slow detachment from market relevance. It's gonna be hard to get a job in Silicon Valley or other high tech companies.

We don't respect Intel at all as a place where innovation happens and good things thrive.

It may not be a prison for everyone but the Intel corporate teat also may not be around forever either. If you think it's business is bad now just wait for a recession, when even the "growth businesses" like server CPUs take a hit... on top of the disruption already occurring. Watch out if you work someplace like Portland where, due to the socialist leaning of Oregon state, there are nearly no other major companies to work for. Save, save, save. Be mentally ready to move to another company in another state.
