Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

11% is a reasonable number

Clears out the marginal performers and a path for those ready for retirement.

Business has shifted significantly with PC market and mgmt. has balanced this decline with server business.

Can only go so far before needing to take bigger structural changes. Likely waited too long to make this move - question is if new strategy is big enough or will the decline continue?

OP: what new strategy? I haven't heard any new strategy. There are no new product, no new place we'll be selling, no new price. I think maybe you mean "the focus on the markets that Intel thinks still have some life in them" (as opposed to the PC)

11% is way less. And then they will hire back loads to prove diversity friendly towards end of the year and good people will suffer

Agree, 11% is an easy layoff - not cutting muscle - trimming some fat.

11% is too little. It should be in range of 20%. Hard IP team alone can have 40%. It is too much overstaffed. Similarly other groups as well.
