Many other things to blame when it comes to layoff so just don't think IC (Indian Chinese) is the only cause here. A pure Chinese owned company like Huawei or Alibaba is doing better than Intel so just go figure. BK should be blamed in the first place simply because he knows nothing in finance or math and he lets a lot of money wasted for nothing. Look at the mobility group (UMG to MCG) where they spent millions each month and ended with big $$ loss. Then NDG comes to live and keep spending.....who to blame when the company lost money and missed their goals?

this is what you get when you hire a bunch of chinese and east indian foreigners - both too dumb too do their part to keep the company profitable.

@1bkn well Duh! if 11% of your workforce is suddenly inferior what else can you do?

Got to start sampling from a better pool that's all.

H1B needs to be fixed.....

People from IITs/Tingua university , phds in Computer Science/EE should be provided to work on H1b....

why TCS/Wipro/Infosys who get majority of the visas which is wrong ....

stop schools issuing fake visas to students in India and China

Don't worry, Brian Krzanich is dedicated to making sure that whites, blacks and people of all creeds, colors, sexual orientations and handicaps make the same. And that will be as close to zero as possible.

I, a 40 yrd old white dude, was let go from Intel and replaced that afternoon with a black guy with zero engineering expertise. I'm not mad at him as he is a wonderful person put in a situation to fail. The corporate agenda is a mess. Intel won't succeed trying to mend some level of white guilt. The race baiting is over nobody listens to techno.

My friends that were kept on had to replace many of those let go. They told me of resumes that HR sent to them. Dozens and dozens resumes of African names (actual names like Kahawai not the made up crap like Laquansha), female names, Hispanic names and not a single John, Bob, Frank or Tom. This is why they are my friends; they interviewed about 5% of them just to make it seem like they were doing their jobs. They asked them technical questions like what is your opinion of "Brawndo the thirst mutilator"? (google it) Those that laughed got passed on to the next phase. The 95% and those with no humor or an obvious HR selection were tossed outright.

As far as H1B's go, all they have to do is sign up for a single class at a community college and they get to stay in the USA forever. They cycle between jobs and schools. I'm disgusted with American business leaders saying there isn't enough talent domestically. I've worked with many people from India. I'm completely unimpressed. These "technical" jobs could be done by anyone with a little direction. There is no need to bring people from India or anywhere else to do entry level work. Its a farce to suppress wages and nothing else.

Not much. Hard IP team needs 40% cut. Similarly other team needs 25% cut.

well you say all that about Indians, but at the end of the day, we have some in our startup, and they are pretty damn competent and damn hard workers. Let's face it, they are easier to hire and recruit than the big boss names from Stanford and other big name US schools.

re Intel, don't work there, never have, but haven't you been watching? PC is dead. Mobile is quickly becoming the PC, and Intel never got to first base on Mobile. IoT is WAY WAY under Intels margin requirements. And all of this was well clear to the casual market observer. And if Intel thinks there is safe haven in Servers... lol... Goog and the other monsters won't be having any of that either.

They said 12k "worldwide" which is code for US. Look for Oregon and California to be decimated, plus some other sites will see token reductions to keep the legal heat to a minimum.

qwv, I am being told by my friend at Intel details in 60 days. They workforace grew to 112000 nd they want to bring it down to 100K. They will say this every year. Get used to it or leave like we been telling you all during the last year. Now time to pay the consequences for sitting on your behind.

Last year was 1100. This is 10X larger layoff. Better be a bunch of H1B VISAS on that plane back to where they came from. Voting Trump to ensure that happens!
