Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

13 AGs submitted a letter to the DOE urging them to not renew their contract with ACICS... That accounts for 7 Ai campuses.

7 Ai campuses & 24 Brown Mackie campuses

The Higher Learning Commission is also investigating several campuses for accrediting violations. All Ai's are on heightened cash monitoring. Several Ai and Argosy campuses are shifting buildings / combining campuses into smaller areas / reducing leased space in an attempt to reduce expenditure and stave off the inevitable.

Taking bets! When is the real end to this for-profit sh-- show? My wager is on a complete EDMC collapse in the near and immediate future.

You are a really pathetic human being, and I still disagree with you. There were students who actually had talent in the classrooms who were royally f---ed by the schools just enrolling anyone and everyone. There had to be some talented people in order for them to be used in marketing as success stories. Many actually have careers in their field now DESPITE everything the school didn't teach them because they actually had talent and were able to learn outside of the classroom and apply it even though EDMC and Ai robbed them of their financial futures. You sound like the perfect candidate for a corporate lackey, though. Huge ego with nothing to back it up with.

They prey on low income individuals, veterans, minorities, & non-traditional students. Calling students "idiots" is very unbecoming and speaks a lot to your character as an individual. During the for-profit heyday, the scam wasn't as widely known, so to place the blame on the students when the Department of Ed was giving the schools their seal of approval is pretty idiotic of you. They utilize manipulative tactics during recruitment, & just because a person is emotionally vulnerable does not make them an idiot, nor does a person believing in our higher education system make them an idiot. Stop victim blaming, bro. Blame the DOE, CEOs, accrediting agencies, & the soulless recruiters for allowing this b.s. scam to live on long last its expiration.

But of course, the Department of ED is notorious for their conflicts of interest within the for-profit sector.

It appears that EDMC has been a "zombie" for some time now, especially after is was delisted from the stock exchange. CEO Mark A. McEachen, installed in September 2015, was previously the CFO of Freedom Communications, a libertarian media corporation. In one interview, McEachen stated “I’m sticking my personal reputation on becoming CEO of the company, and I’m confident that not only will we get this behind us in the near-term but we will become the gold standard of how to interact with students going forward.”...........................http://www.post-gazette.com/business/pittsburgh-company-news/2015/09/21/EDMC-executive-faces-big-challenges/stories/201509220019............................ It also appears that John Danielson, Chairman of the EDMC Board, was Chief of Staff at the DoED under George Bush II and has some experience with at least one other for-profit college (Vatterott)
