Successful with SSL3, is it bad?

I have been extremely passionate about my job and been putting a lot of effort towards it. I got promoted from Grade 5 to 6 last year and was rated outstanding, but this year even though my efforts had increased, i only got Successful with Stock level 3. On asking the reason i was told that usually after promotion everyone gets successful. Is that true? or is this a performance message?

3 to 5 years between promos, what? You should get a promo every 2 years up to grade 8, or you are doing something wrong. After 8, it gets very fuzzy and you must focus on 'managing your career'.

Successful with SL3 the year after a grade jump is exactly where you should be. Mathematically, it really can't work any other way (unless you had a horrible team and all your co-workers were completely lazy and incompetent). Even if you we're going grade 8 work, they still can't give you exceeds or promote you again. They have to spread the money and bonus' around otherwise they will lose good people. Be happy and keep up the good work.

I got a Successful SL3 after a last year's promo. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's the case for most all promos.

Yes. Promo. SSL3. You need to be moving mountains for anything better than that. Give it at least one more year.

Agree wholeheartedly that politics is ruining the company.

To OP, superstars can get better than S the year after a promo but it's very rare. "You just had your turn" mentality is very real

Last year you were in grade 5, so if you did grade 6 work, you can get O. This year, you're in grade 6, so doing grade 6 work is expected and will earn you S. It's perfectly reasonable. Unless you feel you're doing grade 7 work. But seriously, last year you were in grade 5 and this year you already think you're doing grade 7 work?

With grade 6 you will be Ok for next few years, I say at least 5 years. Try for another promo to G-7 in 3 to 5 yrs. Once you reach 7 or 8 you will graduate from Intel meaning they will come after you. GPTW Intel.

Yes. Not surprising. Even though they say its Merit based its mostly a round robin format. If you get a promotion this year, you won't get EE or O next year or any be for the next two years. They need to keep others in the team happy as well so its someone's turn.

Intel is becoming a bad place to work. Too much politics crap and asskissing.
