The social structure in Norway is set up in such a way that, if you get laid off, the Norwegian government pays salaries for a year! There is no cost to NOV. Easiest layoffs to do because they have no financial obligations. Most people do not know this and I would guess NOV hopes no one finds out.

This story is not quite correct. NOV need to pay salary for 3-4 months after selection of the redundant
