True to that. HR is too easy of a scapegoat for headcount reductions, promotions, raises and etc. the hard truth is that these are matters are resolved and decided between n+1, n+2. HR just facilitates these decisions in line with established policies to protect the company. Don't blame HR if some is affected or you don't get your promotion.
this is how it works. Somebody from corp. says "we need to cut cost". then it goes to hr, which it filters down the line.." they ask, give me a reduction in numbers and dollars" to each dept. to meet these goals. they don't care who it is. the depts. decide who they let go. if your REALLY good at what you do? don't worry. If your not? you should have the ability to suck a golf ball thru a small garden hose.
Big Common Sense will always trump Big Data. Got to add to my last comment
HR is worthless 99% of the time and a change in routine could be a trigger that something may go down. With the market as such does not take a rocket scientist to figure out. Need to give us older veterans more credit. Don t need Data to prove its raining during a storm
HR shows up like the grim reaper to discuss things with management these days. NAO has two and if they show up more than once a week someone is gone. They can't even answer basic questions if you ask them and threaten you with policies that don't exist in the handbook.
So, you think HR folks just emerge in their offices at 8am every day? And disappear after work hours?
Trust me, they are normal human beings, go from garage to ofiice, drink coffee, go to restrooms. :)
So, if you see them walking in the building, does not mean that layoffs are expected after two weeks. :)
HR reps are bailing left and right
