Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Stressed employees across the board

Today I am updating my resume, I am searching for jobs, seeing what is out there. This is horrible. I have not been laid off, but I can't walk in to work every day and breath a sigh of relief if my regional manager isn't there unexpectedly? I hate this feeling of being worried if I am going to have a job, regardless of how well I do, my store does. I don't want to look for another job, I want to continue doing what i do, what i have been doing, but now feel forced to start looking elsewhere, because I can't wait to not have a job.

How do they decide which store employees go?

I've just heard second hand that my store will be absorbed by the larger campus in our store group. I've given this company 15 years and never thought I'd feel so much anxiety over my employment status. I'm updating my resume.

I haven't heard one person who has left Follett or the book industry say they regret it. Including me

So glad I left years ago. I'm talking really freaking glad.

I'd suggest a career change, folks.

I think stressed and burned out pretty well describes a lot of us. I have reached the point where I would be happy to be let go.

Had 25+ yrs in and I was working on my best year ever and was let go. Document everything so that when you are fired you can apply for unemployment. Get your resume ready and start looking now, and when it inevitably happens breathe a sweet sigh of relief, get some rest, and know that there are far better jobs and people to work for.

I feel the same way. I have been looking for a new job for a few weeks now. I just want to get out before I'm left standing without a job. I don't know which stores will be cut but I have an awful feeling about mine.
