Nobody cares any more, not even the new folks
After some of the meetings I've been in and some of the conversations from some SVP's that've left recently it really seems that the "plan" has nothing to do with long term or supporting the team. Target always had a vision for the future and it does't anymore. The plan seems to be to try and do whatever will make wall street happy. It doesn't seem to be working for leadership or the team.
The culture we are experiencing is the one that's existed for YEARS in the stores organization where the vast majority of Target's workforce is constantly worried about their job. "Will my job still exist tomorrow?" "Will my position still exist tomorrow?" The roles are always changing, the benefits are always changing. This culture has been in place since I had my first store job here out of college (way too long ago). The anxiety at HQ is all too familiar. It's clear that Target is no longer very worried about losing top talented TM's in HQ. This all started first thing last year and while some people have left on their own accord most are here still fighting the fight. It's a shame, but nothing really new and they seem to be getting away with it.
Exactly! The culture of fear or "I don't really care anymore" is working against them. Leadership created this culture and now everyone is waiting for their walking papers and severance.
