I like 2017 better in terms of a stock market rout. I think we are already in a recession, however (perhaps not in the technical sense of so many quarters of GDP contraction...).
We've been in a recession for years. If it wasn't for our and our government's ability to continue borrowing money, we would be in a situation worse than the Great Depression. It's only credit which keeps our economy going.
