Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Wouldn't worry too much about layoffs

Here's the deal. Many are leaving Target giving them an opportunity to not backfill positions. I would be surprised if large layoffs happened again. However, many middle management positions may be on the chopping block at some point as there are still too many in

middle management in much of the organization (looking at you HR) and that was presented before the board sometime late last year. In reality, it needs to happen - too many managers were promoted without any credentials regarding experience or work performance and are not qualified for similar positions outside of Target.

If there are reorgs , assume there will be layoffs. Sorry to be harsh, but be realistic and plan accordingly.

Another issue in some parts of the organization (that had layoffs and removed most of the layers) is that there are people doing work they're incredibly over qualified for. After eliminating layers we have directors doing work a manager used to do, and gms doing work their teams used to do. they can do the work, but what a waste of resources.

No surprise so many people are finding better options outside target.

In my area of Marketing the ratio of managers to non-managers is nearly 1:1. Talk about top heavy! A lot of people taking credit for work done by a few. This needs to change.

I also heard this. I also heard that merchandising will get a full re-structure. New position names but unsure if roles will change. No word if merchandising will get layoffs or not. Does anyone know?
