How many at downhole Conroe were let go? I heard a lot of the people offered the package are taking it. If that is true, a lot of companies within NOV are left with no management (talking to you Tubascope). I have also heard big numbers will be leaving the company due to lack of work and money saving strategies. Again, keep hearing Friday is the big day!!!!

A shutdown is scheduled. Don't listen to the idiot poster in the comments below who's been talking to itself for several hours then disappeared. The posters goal was to steer you guys in the wrong direction with all its idiotic rants about 15 or so 15-m and its 17 15-m nonsense.Management wants to keep you guys in the dark, orders need to be fulfilled projects need to be completed before shut down takes place. Layoffs will continue from now until the work comes close to completion then it's lights out for the ones who are left. It's already planned out, several meetings took place concerning this and a decision was made to shut it down.
I heard we had more work than you were informed but, the general consensus here is that, even if we didn't shut down most of us will be out of a job and that's unfortunate for everybody.

Well if thats true then I might owe you an apology because I was under the impression we had 7 15-m and 15 jackups. Many many people have told me this.
You must have knowledge to understand the contracts. Just because people say we have the work does not mean the work is solid. Like the wind - due to forces beyond our control. it comes and goes. Sometimes soft and sometimes quite fierce. The wind is quite now, rarely a whisper. But listen carefully, because there is a storm brewing. Unfortunately it is the howling of madmen. Searching for black gold. Elrdridge will do what it must to survive.
I suppose I could have read things wrong, but in our "start of the year" meeting last week, there were only 2 15-m subsea stacks scheduled for this year. I don't recall the amount of jackups left. It was pretty clear that work would be complete by the end of the second quarter.
PCG will not shut down in 2016. We still have last years stacks being built on the stack pad. We have another 5 or so 15-m for this year. And we have 15 or so jackup bop's to complete. As they reduce staff the work will continue through all of 2016 even if done just on 40 hour work weeks. Face Palm bra!
My last post refers to Eldridge. I don't know if it will or will not shut down, but with work running out in only a couple of months, it sounds reasonable that the plant "could" shut down.
Though PCG is huge, I wonder what locations these posters are referring to. Eldridge is not shutting down.

I work in PCG and I know for a fact that our scheduled work will run out just before the end of the second quarter (probably sooner, IMO). I've been speculating on how PCG would be able to keep a skeleton crew working after an expected staff reduction, but now it makes sense: a total plant shutdown would take care of that problem.

Hard-headed people. Once again those contracts were already in place a while ago including Baytown. They are not new contracts. No new contracts for 2016. You will work until contracts are fulfilled then shut down.
We aquired all of Baytowns work so we have NEW contracts. I can assure you PCG will not be shutting down in 2016. I cant speak for 2017 but either can you. Oil will return.

The contacts you mentioned were placed a while back which need to be filled as promised to the customer. Other than that no new orders or contracts.

In my department coworkers were laid off every day of the week for 2 weeks straight. HR is random. They'll surprise you. More layoffs here this week and next week. My best friend and relative works in HR. My source is reliable. Get out of the oil filed industry while you can and good luck!
