Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

SWN good ole boy system

Aside from layoffs, no consideration is given to experience or education when promoting folks. People in certain positions are well overpaid given their expertise (or, often, lack of it) in the industry. Some promos are OK but many other promos are based on the "good ole boy" system. Way to go SWN execs, that's the way to lead us...

Some people just suck at their jobs and/or have no real skill. As a result they get stuck with crap work and no promotions. Instead of being honest with themselves, they make up "the good ole boy" story to feel better. If its so bad, stop bitching and just quit. Only problem is every where else they go there will be another reason why they don't get promotions, and it won't be their fault either.

Totally agree with OP. They don't do the "right things" when it comes to promotions. Rather, managers promote based on other criteria like connections with upper management or even the "look" of someone....glad I left.

Layoffs today at SWN. No longer one of the best places to work in Houston.
