Go ARM
What technology companies have successfully "turned around" once they made a wrong move? I'm no expert but I can only think of only 1: Apple. How did they do it? Creating entire new product categories. Intel doesn't have the vision or the will to do this. The King is dead (Intel). Long live the King (ARM).
I have yet to see a external person make a difference at Intel. They all resign right around 18 months. Wonder when will the board kick BK out the door. Next year?
I was talking about administratively @wii. My apologies for not pointing that out since most people here have their engineer's hats on. :) Administratively things do need to be done a certain way or things can get very F-ed up.
Personally, I've been saying for a long time that Intel needs some new (non-blue) blood. However, it's a scary thing to me how much of the company was given to an outsider (Murthy) right off the bat. I'd think they'd have to prove themselves first but apparently not. lol Also scary is all of us Intel'ers trying to work "the Intel way", just to have newcomers not know how anything works.
Some of my own personal experiences are some of them really don't care how (or why) things are done a certain way at Intel and doing things however they want to. They haven't been "Intelized". Sure, change is good (sometimes) but I'm not seeing how this is going to play out without pain for the masses/Intel. It's just such a huge ship to steer and turn around.
The comments are both funny and informative (more than the article). Same themes as this blog: 1) Intel missed a technology turn and will never catch ARM 2) Intel management is inept, corrupt, and too political 3) Intel needs to innovate but never will 4) "Go Intel!" I'm a shiny RCG and I'm hoping beyond hope for my RSUs sake etc, etc, etc
