Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

The deep breath before the plunge

Get ready citrites, not long before the next round of layoffs in January .

Just one last monkey show at synergy before your usefulness is over and 1000 people will be given pink slips.

Remember BobC declared "no one is safe" at the last all employee meeting, so take charge of your future and get out instead of cowering in the closet. Odds are 1 in 5 that you will go so Elliot does not have to pay severance...how poetic after Las Vegas synergy.

Expenses at synergy will be watched with a microscope, any infraction will be cause for immediate dismissal, to avoid paying severance.

My advise for those who get let go - get some part-time moonlighting job while you search for a full-time job. And once you get a full-time job, keep the moonlighting job on the side for as long as you can. The key nowadays is to have more than one source of income. Beats the shit out of not having an income at all. Signing up with Uber, freelancer.com, guru.com, Amazon Mechanical Turk, whatever, even if it is just enough to fill the gas tank. Get used to that reality, and exploit it to your advantage.

2/2 - con't. 1/2 - In this industry, you should always expect a round of layoffs every 4-6 years. You are lucky if you can make it past 6 years in the same company as an engineer, tester or sales engineer (you have better odds as a manager, though). That is how it has been for the last 20 years. And if you don't have a linkedin profile with networks that you can tap on, you are an idiot. Sorry to say it so bluntly. Now, I pray you do not get affected. If you survive this, stop being stupid, oblivious to how the industry operates. Be proactive and jump that ship ON YOUR OWN FAVORABLE TERMS. WAKE. THE. HELL. UP. You owe to your kids.

1/2 - "How will i pay the bills and my kids education. I might be forced to take up any job just to survive." - Welcome to life dude. You should have been preparing for that eventuality for a while now. It's like, have you been living under a rock? Yes, you will have to take any job if you haven't been preparing for the possibility of being let go.

Been with the company 16 years and will be sad if I go. I love the people and the culture, its the best place I've ever worked, I'll be devastated if I'm selected, I have no idea what I would do and say to my family. How will i pay the bills and my kids education. I might be forced to take up any job just to survive. I don't think I'll be sleeping tonight

Look - take some advice from someone that saw the writing on the wall and left (I knew bad things were going down when Brad P retired)...dont ruminate about the Citrix of old. Think about where you'll be respected and where you can start over. There are many small/mid-size tech firms in SE Florida now. Magic Leap is doing amazing things. Check them out.

Go somewhere else...where they have employee value as part of their culture. Leave the bean counters horde their cursed duckets. GO while you still can and are not forced to compete with another 1000 ex-employees.

Upper management has completely lost their marbles. Who in their right mind thinks that employees would do anything above and beyond when all they do is worry about being unemployed? Everyone will stay under the radar, and we have already lost all our superstars. The culture is dead. Why would anyone stick around in this company. The culture is indentured servants who now tremble with every movement of management. All the while, the shareholders are raking in plenty of money, waiting to move it elsewhere when this bubble pops.

The culture (employee value) was so important about the old Citrix. Its what Ed founded the company one...and Mark sustained. But those days are over. You have to understand that. The new guard cares nothing about the old Citrix. Just how they can cut and slice up the parts to get the most return for the shareholders. For those that hope for the old Citrix to stick around, its gone guys. It died. Have a funeral and mourn, but dont expect it to come back.

I heard rumors that the layoff will start tomorrow, confirming what others had said. Pretty sad this company is destroying itself and the culture that we have (or had). Three layoffs in one year is the perfect recipe to completely demoralize people. I remember when this company invested on their people and the one thing I always liked was the culture... which is almost gone now. I know this is part of the business but I just don't understand their thinking here, this is only going to cause more harm that good in the long run.

Totally a troll.

Synergy is in May, announcement is rumored to be this week.

Expenses are audited and if something is not covered it is just dropped from the reimbursement. This all no paying severance and immediate dismissal is just BS.

That makes sense from a business point of view they certainly won't want it to drag on. They will want to finish it and then have the whole year to focus people on the products. They can't afford another few weeks of uncertainty. Now that Xenapp 7.7 is out there is no need to delay

It's not 1000, more like 600-700. Also we have no idea when in jan its going to be announced. It could be as early as next week to get it all finalised before the events start taking place so the people who are not affected can focus on that otherwise everyone is going to be on edge and that's not good for customers. I think they will want to do it as early as possible to avoid more mess
