Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Let's clarify who's been posting crap and repulsive language

Since 2013 this site has attracked a lot of people, Chk employees, former Chk employees, competitor staff and random friends of this company.

I know for a fact that many non Chk employees, ex-employees, SandRidge/Devon etc love to troll this site. And they are the ones that place stupid crap just to stir the pot. At some point I felt bad for Doug on the TH because of how frustrated he is with this site. But just as the salary, It does come with the territory.

What's sad is that I've been looking for a new job since last Fall and there really isn't much that pays what I make, especially starting a new career. I'm left to hold on until I'm pushed out or catch that Hail Mary pass that may come along.

"A small bump". Do you have any frame of reference? Are you drunk? Talking reason with you is pointless.

You do realize that the year is 2016?

So maybe I am optimistic saying this is a bump in the road. I never said I was a genius, my statement is based in fact not fantasy. For your information oil just soared over 12%. So you think it is Doug's fault prices are down? Everyone wants to be part of the team until the cards are down. Now all you want to do is blame leadership. For your information I have been in this industry and through this before. I am still here so what does that tell you? This is not the 1st time oil prices have went down. History has shown the price goes back up to a higher level. You are genius thinking low prices are never going to rebound.

We did not get where we are by the work of one individual. We got here as a team so if you are not a team player then you are the problem. Stay strong and don't listen to these individuals who want to just give up. I am not an individual but rather a member of a team. If you are new in the industry trust me when I say the nature of this business has ups and down. Those with EXPERIENCE know what I am talking about.

Thinking everything is A okay!!! You are a joke just like your management in field offices.

Half my post got deleted, which is too bad. It was pretty good, I am not retyping it. That is why the last post makes no sense. Short version, to the person who called this a small bump, please reassess the severity of the industry currently before making such a foolish statement.

A small bump, says this genius. There have been over 120,000 O CHK will still have debt and liquidity issues. As far as "leave now," trust me many employees would love to. But aside from IT and accounting, many people in this industry are pigeon holed, often in a fairly small niche. I'm not trying to discount your sentiment, but most of what you said is pure fantasy. Also, the primary goal of our fearless leader is "maximizing shareholder value." Well, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would have to rate Doug a 1 on that, simply because zero was not an option. Seriously, you need to wake up and take a big gulp of reality, rather than the CHK koolaid which is being shoved down your throat.

Small Bump = Bankruptcy or Stock value depletion

Very Soon = 2 yrs min

We are just now hitting bottom, we still maintain the same level of production. The demand will stay low for years to come. But it's our only choice to produce to pay our obligations.

The sheer arrogance of current CHK employees is downright amazing in many cases. Hence, the hate.

If you do not think CHK is proceeding in the best interest of all you can just leave now. This is all going to turn around very soon. For those who have faith and stick it out will be stronger for the next bump in the road. That is exactly what this is, a small bump. Those with nothing positive to say should refrain from spreading negativity. Grow up.

Seriously? CHK has never been a top payer. We made our money on stock and bonuses. Our Salaries are mid-pack. I came here 5 years ago with the promise of great stock and huge bonuses. I have seen my net salary drop steadily over the past two years. Unfortunately we are all in OKC in a down market. Unlikely most of us will have the necessary skills to get poached by companies laying people off so I just hope for the best where I am until a turn around happens.

"To get an honest , transparent answer to any question or concern from management is impossible . Doug Lawler is the biggest joke of a CEO , and is no way a leader of any kind . Take any word that come out of his or upper managements mouth and beleive the exact opposite ."

+1

Upper management trolls this sight as well. Seems to me there are 3 categories; trolls, workers and upper management. Sift through the trolls and upper management for an honest assessment. Vulgar words negate your statements. We are professionals so cut out out the childish insults and curse words. Anyone writing profanity is a troll.

I've got an engineering degree and an MBA. I've set up interviews outside of the industry and looking at a pay raise of 20-30% minimum. Maybe certain positions are over paid but most are not, CHK has been running under avg for several years as many people left for competitors without being laid off, I should know since my friends sent me a pic of their new pay stub . Even in this environment, I can find a job with another operator fully hired on as an employee in a month (maybe 6 weeks), several stronger operators are actively hiring for particular skill sets. For all you people saying we are spoiled, since working at CHK, I've saved my money, delivered pizzas at night for the past 6 years, drive a sub $1000 beater, live in Norman because it's cheaper, go to the thrift store to buy most of my clothes when I can and yes I am a millennial. Not everyone lives extravagantly. Some people live extravagantly but they have never been on hard times before (this bust will do this for most), I was homeless as a kid and once you go through that type of experience it leaves a mark. So troll away, none of you actually work at CHK. I've worked in the steel industry, power industry, manufacturing all before CHK, so I've got no problem surviving since I planned for this. Normally I would ride this into the ground but for most worker bees it's about your supervisor not the higher ups and I don't particularly care for how things are being done currently so I continue to show up early (not to go to the gym) and stay late (oh and I bring my own lunch since it's cheaper). Cheers trolls, I gotta start my part time weekend retail job in a few hours and I am delivering pizzas tonight, don't worry I'll see you with a smile knowing that eventually working my 3 jobs and living like a pauper will payoff despite what anyone says. For everyone working there, I don't know what will happen but I genuinely wish all of you the best.

There are also some of us on this sight who are current employees seeking answers to many , MANY unanswered questions .

To get an honest , transparent answer to any question or concern from management is impossible . Doug Lawler is the biggest joke of a CEO , and is no way a leader of any kind . Take any word that come out of his or upper managements mouth and beleive the exact opposite .

Chk is nothing but a joke ! The employees are treated like crap , and if you speak up , say the truth around here you will immediately be let go . I have personally seen it happen MANY times .

I for one have been riding along quietly until a new job with a reputable company comes forth , until then I can at least vent my frustrations here . I'm sure Doug Lawler does not have time to troll on here , but others just under him do .

There are many isues with this company that are Doug Lawler problems , and nobody else can take the blame other than him . People need to stop pushing the buck and man up for their own wrongdoings ..

I thank the responders for confirming what the OP said. You obviously don't work for CHK and its pretty clear that you know little about the oil and gas industry. Here's my question - is your life really so boring and unfulfilled that you need to troll layoff sites for companies that you have no real interest in other than the fact that their current circumstances allow you to kick the employees while they are down? That's sad.

What an odd post. You nailed it. The arrogant CHK employee claiming to be top of his class. Your company failed and you lined your wallet. You seem to be proud. Disturbing.

I've yet to live?

I've been at this high income before Chk, most of my colleagues when I arrived were top of their class. Chk was a very sought after company so they had the luxury of being selective. I've lived well before, I live well now and my bank account will allow me to live well after Chk. I know my worth, and it's always been promising.

It is real what we are worth and its because we work harder than most industries. We understand that this is a cyclical industry but never underestimate our worth. Oil and gas is the best industry in the world and we will be back. Stop trolling liberal.

What an odd post. Must of us will never come close to the overinflated salaries of oil company employees. Your salaries were based on debt. There is nothing more fragile than debt. You know that right? So how are you complaining about losing a salary that has no economic basis in reality? Welcome to how everyone else lives, Jack. It was fake the whole time. Now you will discover what you are made of and which possessions are important. You have yet to live - but now you will...
