Why can't CHK buy their bonds for pennies on the dollar that were issued under AKM?

Hey reply #1: you're an idiot. That's not how buying debt back works. And I'm sure they are buying debt back at these levels.

Because when you have 10 billion in debt and 1 billion in cash and you use your cash to pay down debt you end up with 9 billion in debt and no cash. Make sense?
