I don't see managers being laid off, just workers.

And if you believe that, I have a bridge for sale. They will just take them out of management and make up other jobs for them where they make the same salary.

Well, that will be a first that they would actually lay off some managers. They need to. Worked on the military side for all of my Boeing career up until a year ago when I switched over to the commercial division. Even though there are plenty of criticisms that could be made about the military side of the business, I have never seen such a display of management incompetency as I've experienced on the commercial side. Decisions by committee are the standard mode of operation with the result that there are no timely decisions. Too many layers of management and no one appearing to be in a position of being able to make the final decision or in many cases having the technical expertise to make that decision. There is a reason that Boeing is losing contracts to other competitors. The working level engineers, I believe know some of the reasons why that is happening. Some of that has resulted out of the new management style that promotes the talkers instead of doers and caving to some of the outside pressures to incorporate diversity independent of capabilities. Part of that management philosophy shift has been to place glass ceilings on technical path salaries which has resulted in a higher incentives for pursing management paths, created lethargy amongst the technical ranks, and actually incentivized the top technical talent to look elsewhere. The loss of the bomber contract is a good example of Boeing's ongoing inability to win the big military contracts. Much of that has to be blamed on a management philosophy that minimizes technical excellence and instead perpetuates good old boy management club mentalities. Getting rid of some of those low performers would be a good move by Boeing.

The Scotch Tape Salesman really did a job on Boeing. Now it's cleanup time, I guess. Airbus is kicking Boeings ass, why? Boeing seems to be self destructive, it puts its divisions in Earthquake zones, tornado zones, and flood zones. They put their entire service engineering division in Southern California, arguably one of the worst places in this country to do business. They moved a few thousand people into a high tax rate, high rent, ridiculous house prices, fees for everything, dirty and polluted shithole. Boeing people tell me that the Scotch Tape Salesman hated unions and tried to bust them, I think the cure was, or is worse than the disease.

Well here we go again. How many layoffs in the last 15 years, could it be 3. Boeing is beginning to look like its run by idiots. Does Boeing need to downsize, Yes it does. Will Boeing screw up the layoffs, Yes. What could Boeing lose and not feel it you ask. Well they could start by getting ride of the Moscow Design Center. Boeing needs that like 5 legged cow. How about the video/movie production group, they don't need this. In fact they'll layoff irreplaceable engineers first. How about getting rid of the H1B visa personnel, that would mean giving Americans a break, can't have that. Or maybe they could lose 30 % of HR. Conner makes 16 million per year, do ya think he'd even give up 2 mil of that, no, I doubt it, but he'll layoff and engineer and think twice. The fact is that there are numerous support groups that are essentially useless, they consist of the diversity police and the campfire Kum ba yah groups. Boeing better get it straight that Boeing IS its engineers, without which there is no Boeing, so they better get there heads removed from their rears. Boeing also has too many females in leadership positions that are not only incompetent, but were promoted based on PC rather than capability.
