How is the big Murthy treating y'all? Does he still bring a healthy lunch to noon meetings then eat that and 2 sandwiches, chips, soda and cookies?

This is what happened on the run-up to ACT
I was talking to my friend who works at Intel and currently Murthy is having meeting with each group head and eventually come up with plan for lay-off and restructuring groups. Currently it is quiet time before Murthy Sunami comes and create havoc.
9fnh, Intel does not need people who take risk and get the job done. They need politicians. In honestly I wish they would have let me go much sooner. You only realize this when you are out of Intel.
I'm sure 9qpp took a risk that didn't work out. It was probably a good risk... and he got fired for it. But after we fire all the risk-takers, then let's innovate! ;)
I thank god everyday I wake up knowing I no longer work for Intel. What a F&ed up company and it will always remain that way and get worse. Thank you Intel for the ISP. THANK YOU
One of Intel's most BS value is "Risk Taking". It is only applauded if it works out. If not, you may be on IR.
Sounds like Intel is paying $25M for a glorified HR analyst - one who is ok with swearing. ("Murthy is being paid $25 million to identify and kick out the bad apples...He will also rope in fresh folks") This will work out the way it usually does. Anyone who took a risk that didn't work out will be fired regardless of if it was a good or bad risk. The majority who don't take risks but work hard on building their personal image with stay. Bureaucracy will increase and risk taking will decrease as a result. Next ratchet down in the death spiral.
Time will tell, won't it @-8ybn? I'm going to remain positive about it until I see otherwise.
Murthy's "Magic" is to do what he did at Qualcomm, i.e. stock dropping by half while he jumps ship to find the next cushy job with a huge compensation package.

Murthy is being paid $25 million to identify and kick out the bad apples from the product design teams and I am pretty sure he will do a great job. He will also rope in fresh folks with a new perspective. Wait till March and you will see the "Murthy Magic"
@8ssc. Couldn't said it any better. Desperate is right. Ship is sinking. Give some a hole $25M to see if he can save the ship. One person can not save the ship is all I know.
It used to be that Intel was a coveted company for C-suite, where CEOs from other companies would be satisfied with a VP at Intel and a shot at CEO in the future. Now it seems like the opposite is occurring. Because Intel is so weak we're taking other company VPs and slotting them for CEO position. That is an action of a desperate (or at least unattractive) company.

When you describe his management style, he sounds reasonable, and getting rid of low performers is behavior I would expect from a high caliber executive. I had read other posts that make him seem like a raging lunitic, yelling at people, slinging personal attacks and acting somewhat bipolar. He's probably not so different from many other VPs. I hope he's able to make shit happen.
As a leader, Murthy is extremely efficient and capable enough to become the next CEO. His management style is a bit harsh though and will not hesitate kicking out non-performers from the company. If you are on his team and don't deliver your promises, be careful. And please don't judge a person by his nationality or skin color - It's common for folks at the bottom getting jealous at a C-level executive for no other reason than his skin color.

Ending up at the top means he is very political not effective. Were both Clinton and Nixon effective? How about Obama and Bush? Their effectiveness is irrelevant to their position. They ended up on top because they played the political game best. And so it is now with Intel where bureaucracy at the top looks much like it does in government.
I have a fried who is working under him but I haven't seen her since he started. I'm anxious to see her and ask how she perceves him and what it's like to work for him. I'm curious . There are lots of rumors about the guy but he must be very effective in what he deliveres, right? He Ended up at the top somehow.
I will start being nice when he starts be respectful.
