@FQYUwvM-2ekq - so true
Really good points about the track history of our acquisitions. Both Windriver and McAfee efforts are starting to smell. Once we merge we run the company into the ground. Sometimes I wonder how we keep surviving.
Not if you ask Wind River employees (if you look at their layoff site postings).
I'd be interested in 1 jmf 's opinions on whether or not the Wind River Systems Acquisition worked out for Intel.
1jmf, please try to remember one past Intel acquisition that worked out. By that I mean that it was worth what was paid for it and the business flourished under Intel. I cannot think of one. But you know what: they ALL looked good at the time they were purchased. It's way too early to presume brilliance for BK. All I've seen so far in actual results have been: flat revenue/earnings, scared employees, drones.
So many groups at Intel are not tied to the bottom line (like legal, HR, IT and others). It's difficult to tell which of those groups are underperforming. When a group is cut, they aren't cutting actual groups, they're cutting products that are't making it in the market.
Well, you don't have to stay around to watch.... Plenty of news on Intel out there. Just no insider info.
Actually, BK is pretty shrewd! He took the $7.8 billion in profit from the data center business (added 5 billion to it) and purchased Altera. We're now putting a ton of muscle behind FPGAs for The Internet of Things and the Intel Custom Foundry business is starting to pick up steam. Even if our data center business tanks, we may have enough hooks in the water to catch a whale. I keep thinking I want to leave Intel but every time I start to make a move they do something so tactically impressive that I feel compelled to stay around and watch. You gotta hand it to BK - he's pretty smart.
Not from me (I am @-tga). I'm planning my exit this year and hope it coincides with a VSP (or any kind of "SP") for that matter). LOL I don't have a whole heck of a lot of stock but what little I have I'd like to be worth something. If it isn't, so be it. I don't need the money. I'd LIKE the money. LOL Big difference.
Hmmmm, I sense fear
That sure doesn't look good for us, does it? First declining PC sales and now this.
