Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Layoffs this Thursday (February 11th 2016)

I've heard this internally and there are at least two threads here hinting the same - how likely is this?

Cousin of mine works for Hertz. He said their services have been retained for Elk City, Lindsay, Waynoka, Weatherford, Wilburton and Woodward, Oklahoma for 2 dates in February/March 2016.

If you don't have money to lose then don't play the stock market. Common sense.

We get two fifteen minute breaks and a lunch break. Or do you only invest in sweatshops?

Investor friend... don't let this website sour your opinion. When "water cooler talk" is anonymous and includes uninvited guests (namely a vocal group of former employees who find joy in our misfortune) it brings out the worst in us.

Harsh and urgent times demand harsh and urgent actions.

Sounds like you were the first to get cut 12 months ago... Consultant calling company hands overpaid? Have you been checking this website, while on your McDonalds breaks, ready to strike, at a moment just like this? Your life sounds awesome!

i would agree with you @FQ1UpSl-lho. Don't they work during what should be their business hours? If I was their superior, I would show them the door right fast. I'm the investor that commented earlier. I would hope that it is just a very few really bad apples in the barrel. Hope that they don't sour the good apples.

I am always amused how current employees of oil companies are indignant about how they are treated when a company is in its death throes. Do you expect the management to consult and share everything with every employee all the time? That is not workable.

Also, you were greatly overpaid and underworked for a number of years when times were great, and many of you thought that was because you were better, smarter, perhaps more handsome than the rest of the working world, and now you're all like Cam Newton, realizing that you aren't so special and that it was all hype that you bought into. We'll see how easy it is for you to get your next job. A little humility when times are good would be appreciated.

As a long-time consultant in the oil industry, the arrogance of employees, particularly those in their 20s and 30s, is widespread and unpleasant. You really aren't as smart and capable as you may think, and you are about to find out that truth on the open market.

Good luck!
