Thread regarding CIGNA Corp. layoffs

Anthem Layoffs

I completely agree with all the Anthem posts. I would recommend staying away from that company if you are job hunting, unless you like temp work. As a company they constantly imply that they honor their employees and the community, but they directly destroy the community with all their layoffs. They also advertise growth opportunities in the company, but that is not true and is very misleading. I would say they are the most misleading company I have experienced. They should really be ashamed and so should any government officials who support them and hold them up as admirable in the new healthcare laws. Everyone knows the strength of this country lies within the community and small businesses, yet the government continues to allow these monopoly's like Anthem flourish.

Has there been any discussion regarding not only the past layoff's for both of these companies, but their lack of concern to "take care of their existing employees" during this process. Raises a year ago were as little as 1.3% for solid employees who met or exceeded their goals. This year, the health insurance employee responsibility went up over 6% for 2017. How are employees supposed to pay for that increase if another 1.3% raise is given. People cannot live on a 1.3% raise with increased insurance cost, as well as cost of living going higher everyday. Without their employees, none of the advantages that each of these companies boast will matter. They do not take care if their most valuable assets...their employees. How are those people insured, physicians and hospitals supposed to trust the merger is a positive thing when they cannot even treat their own employees fairly? Anthem should use the money they slotted for this purchase to award their employees with a decent salary and a raise they don't have to apologize for (since it was so

ridiculously low. Your employees are what make each of you successful standing alone. I can't imagine what Anthem would do if they spend all of their assets on this purchase and not pay your employees what they are worth, or at least enough to cover the increase in health care. Handling your assets in this manner makes both companies a very poor risk.

Hear Hear! I couldn't agree more. I know this from experience, as a laid-off Anthem employee.

At this point I would not go back there for anything
