Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Massive defections at MI Swaco in Florence.

Thoughts on why so many folks are leaving this facility voluntarily if job cuts are over? Management in Houston starting to question what's happening in the Bluegrass plant.

Agreed. Out with the old not working system(people) and in with the new. Not Toyota manufacturing this is Sweco. 188 an hr consultant has not improved anything.

^You have to keep in mind that in this business like many others you probably don't want to know "How the sausage is made". What I mean by that is that when it comes down to the plant being managed properly, in a manner that would allow all employees to prosper OR being managed in a way that only allows a select few to benefit, the latter will always take place. The widely accepted theory on "the consultant" is that an envelope is being exchanged at the end of the month with a member of management. Not saying that is the fact but the optics are REALLY BAD. Bottom line is that people are scared, angry, and frustrated with the lack of communication shown by this once great manufacturing facility. A shake up in management with new people coming in from the outside is the only hope to save this place.

Srry,,got off subject. My thoughts on why so many are leaving,,Because upper management couldn't operate a taco stand in tacoville if they had to. Unqualified.underexperienced.micromanaging blank staring close minded delusional inept, would say retard but that would be an insult to all the retards out there.

Houston,,we have a problem. Yes oil is way down and going lower AND it's an election year which we all know is never good for our business. The problem is management wants more and more with less and less. Lasers aren't being serviced unless they break down..they are past due service and maybe running at 75% power now. How much money has the "consultant" made the company? More like lost the company money. Management here doesn't have a clue,,their idea would be to hire another consultant or make more mandatory meetings, IO's RIR's etc. to bring production up. Clock out shop orders lowly bitches while I collect my bonus is their motto.

Who cares anymore anyway. Remember people you are just a number, a warm body to be removed so management, stockholders and overseas big wigs make their bucks!

Well yes, confusion abounds, and who does take care of those official documents now? Wonder what outside certification companies will think about all this mess, lack of leadership and organization. Maybe a big Nonconformance, huh?

What does the consultant do, or supposed to do? I was axed prior to any consultant being there (as far as I know of anyways).

^Next to go should be the $188/hour consultant or the brain dead manager that signed his two year contract.

Well obviously job cuts are NOT over! As long as we don't have to get rid of our $1500 per day consultant because he has done SOOO MUCH for us. It's like this place is being run by a bunch of 90 year old dementia patients.

There are too many people being underutilized.

At the same time you have people who have a manager title when they manage no one or any type of product line. Way too costly.

Do yourself a favor.....move on. There is life beyond SLB. In fact, life is much better absent SLB.

Upper management is driving out the good people. The only time you see them is when they are over reacting to a non safety issue.

Is the problem with Florence management more of an upper management problem or does it begin at lower levels like department heads?

I left there because there was not a future there for DPM staff. The clock is ticking. It used to be a great place to work. SLB and current DPM management have ruined what used to be an efficient, productive and enjoyable place to work. Now the left hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing (there isn't a right hand). Nothing about that place is right anymore. Tis a shame. Good people still there. But not for long.

Quality department has been reduced to almost nothing. Get it out the door and worry about quality problems only when the customer complains. A once great company reduced to this. Sad.
