Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Anyone else having problems collecting unemployment?

My state shows no record of unemployment being paid by Chevron for me. Been contacting HR for help for weeks now and keep getting run around of proof where it's at.

No issues with me either. I collected all 6 months of unemployment benefits and didn't search once for a job. The TWC only asked me to provide them with 1 week of job searches around month #4. I gave them 3 bogus company names and reported I had mailed in my resume to their HR dept with a cover letter. I heard anything again and collected the remaining months without a follow up. I now live comfortably in retirement collecting a nice annuity check from Chevron, have over a million bucks that I don't need to touch in my 401k, have over $200k cash in local bank accounts, and awaiting to social security next year. I have zero debts and used only 1/4 of my one year severance to pay off my mortgage. To top it all off, I am on Obamacare enjoying a nice HMO medical policy for under $60 a month. Live is good. Thanks Chevron and the good workers I had the pleasure to work with, but I say, screw you management!

No issues here in Texas.

Chevron expats technically work for a California entity, (either Chevron Global Overseas, Chevron Technical Services, etc), so Chevron supplies your work history in California. You can try to file unemployment in your home state, but they have to coordinate with California. You don't have to actually be in California to file, you can do it online or at your local state office.

No TROLL, just a real ex-employee! and know my own ssn!!! Buttwipe, this was an honest question. After much time on many phone calls, learned from my state, they looking into it. that due to being an EXPAT, all unemployment went to CA., due to it being the HQ. no matter what state you live. So you must file in CA. Thanks to all the HR & payroll who could not tell me this.

OP is a contractor. Chevron would not be the party verifying a contractor's employment to the state.

Agree with second reply, your wages are reported for tax purposes, everything is linked to social security number. When an unemployment claim is filed, the unemployment dept determines your highest quarter earnings over an eighteen month period to determine your weekly rate, so your question makes no sense. You either didn't give unemployment the correct ssn or you're a troll.

OP, you say your State has no record of Chevron paying into the unemployment fund for you. I don't understand what you are getting at. The company doesn't pay into the fund using your name in particular. It doesn't work that way, it's by head count. In any case, the State and the Federal government would know if and for how long you worked for Chevron by virtue of withheld taxes. You also have proof by virtue of being able to show copies of your paycheck statements and annual W2 forms. It seems to me you are spreading misinformation or just plain crap.

Without knowing the State you will get no replies of any use, OP. Each state is different with slightly different versions of the REA program and the method/intensity of implementation. It also varies from office to office within the States. You typically have to report in person now. I would suspect that when the offices become more congested, those requirements may lapse as they did in ~2009. Do you mind asking about your State? CA, TX, LA, etc.?
