Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

Funny how they fired people, but contract agencies are looking for Tech I and Tech II's

Wanna hear something that'll make you mad if you were just fired? I was contacted by a few contract agencies and they said they were hiring for Gulfstream and I was qualified!!! but for $18/hr... I was almost making 2x's that. So it just goes to show you that they weren't really letting go of people because they were "streamlining their efforts for continuous success"... what a joke. Just change up your resume and send it to any contracting house and they will try to hire you. GriefStream is a horrible place to work. I'm glad Im gone.

August will be 10 years of Gulfstream for me. 10 years of wondering when I will be the least favorite or considered too fat or too old. They really do lie to you until the cuts start. I have found yoga to be the best stress relief and I know I always have a choice. Stay ........ or leave and make 3X's less. So far the money has out-weighed the leaving. Oh, by the way, the dead weight here isn't going anywhere. Relationships outside of work is how they got hired in the first place.

To the persons that believe culling apples is a good thing reflect upon the not so perfection system of how those decisions are made. In many cases they are defensive moves to protect the jobs of the ones making the decisions.

The need to cull bad apples is not a new concept.

Unfortunately, they had to layoff good contractors to be able to legally remove the dead weight. Good riddance dead beats!

Boo hoo? Are you serious? These are peoples LIVES, people with CHILDREN, people who have BILLS, people who need MEDICAL INSURANCE, people who have worked and been LOYAL to a company for years. Yes, things happen where companies do need to lay people off, but to turn around and hire contractors or less qualified people for the same positions that were just let go is wrong. ESPECIALLY a week or two before the holidays and with it being on the news before employees were made aware. You are ridiculous to even comment on this thread. Make your own when it's your time to go. Good luck to you- maybe try to incorporate some compassion into your life for others who have been put into extremely unfortunate life situations due to BUDGET cuts!
