After many years in oil and gas I was laid off in June 2015. I have looked for another job in the Dallas area to no avail. Unemployment benefits only lasted for six months. $12000 max. I have been working on Plan B. I do believe the older workers were targeted at Denbury. I'm not old enough for retirement so a real mess. I've worked for other oil and gas companies past 20 years and Denbury was the worst. No teamwork. Even the supervisor avoided interaction w the team. I am glad not to work there anymore. It always works out in the end and I don't miss the Denbury Cafe... To me they could have closed that down and called off the Christmas Party. Priorities screwed up. They do not value their hard working employees.

I agree. Denbury needs the right management and right skill set of employees to survive.
This downturn is really scary for a lot of people for all the reasons you just named. When there are a shortage of jobs and thousands of qualified candidates flooding the market, options are limited unless you're willing to relocate to another city or state. My heart goes out to you. I know that you probably don't think that Denbury cares, but I promise you that most of us would have given up anything including the cafe and Christmas party (which is gone now) if it would have prevented the layoff. The truth is, nothing that small will save our jobs until the price of oil recovers significantly. I think that they are just trying their best to maintain something to boost morale during the downturn. I hope that your Plan B turns out to be the best thing to ever happen to you. Sending prayers your way.
i am sorry for your situation. my company is in bankruptcy and I will soon join you, and as I am 55+, i have slim hope of ever working in O&G again for a company. Gonna learn to be an independent!
