What would be your advice for someone going through this? Is anyone hiring in Dallas? Houston and Oklahoma City is in same mess as us.

Here's my advice... Quit whining and being a tit tit, get off the computer you're on now and go find a J.O.B.
Use the company that helped me find a job that you get when you're laid off. Denbury hired them to help me and they did a great job with my resume and contacts. I had a job in 32 days.
I'd love to hear how you'd suggest handling a situation like this? It's a difficult situation for everyone, management, people impacted and anyone left behind.
A friend of mine was laid off by another O&G company in Dallas and received two weeks severance, period. That's what everyone received regardless of their tenure with the org.
No companies in the area are hiring outside of midstream, so good luck finding a new role in this market. As another post suggests, it might be an opportunity to explore options outside of the industry.

Your job doesn't define who you are. Don't be too proud to venture out of your field of expertise. My father in law was a 20+ o&g man who was laid off 6 months ago. He wasn't willing to relocate, so he has worked various jobs (delivering flowers, contract work, painting homes) in between interviewing. Our family couldn't be more proud of his positive attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes to provide for his family. Downturns are humbling.
Good advice

Down turns happen, the way this has been handled has been by small people not in statue but in humanity. Talk to God about it, talk to family about it, talk to friends about it, but don't you loose your humanity!
