Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Why do I see so many iPhones in the hands of management at work?

We're an Android house. I'm tired of going to management cheerleading sessions and seeing the top managers using iPhones.

I saw this in the T.S. software presentation. I see it in my own group.

I guess I just expect top management to use their own product. Anytime I see a manager using an iPhone, I see it as a no-confidence vote for our own chipset.

God, when are these clowns going to practice "leadership by example"?

Am I the only one who notices this?

You still don't get it. Sycophants make management's job easier. They aren't insulted. It ultimately means more money for management. My original comment was actually a back-handed compliment to OP. He didn't seem like the type who drinks the management "Q-ool-Aid."

Qualcomm probably makes more money on an Apple phone sale than on any other phone sale because Apple products are so expensive and Qualcomm gets a royalty payment of maybe 4.5% on the sale of a $700 phone ergo, $31.50 of free money every time Apple sells a phone.

it's more of an insult to management if they like sycophants.

"Sycophant/sycophantic" has a slightly different and definitely more insulting connotation. Sort of like the difference between having an "alcohol problem" and being a "lush."

I think the word you are looking for is sycophantic

I don't work there, so I try to avoid Q-jargon at all costs. "Compliant," in this context, means someone who slavishly follows orders without asking questions. Being "compliant" is not necessarily a good thing--for you. Of course management LOVES compliant employees. If management LOVES something, at the very least you should silently ask yourself WHY they like it so much....

Is commpliant a Q HR Word that means competent, communicative, and compliant all at once?

OP: The fact that you even noticed this means you definitely are NOT commpliant enough to be Qualcomm material. Look for another job, immediately.

We're a CHIP house that happens to have thousands of mediocre bit flippers attempting to work on android.

I still have my iPhone4 from 2010. I've never reloaded the firmware or caught malware.

Anyone claiming that on a 'droid is ignorant.

Several Qualcomm chips are in the iPhone. So all good.

The iPhone user experience is better than Android. Even they can see that.

Good question. I've seen the same. They complain about Apple eating the high-end of the market, but buy the product. I wish I knew.
