Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Who's out?

Who did they let go and why? Was is based on your pay? Any other higher ups, regional or district managers? And why does demos get to stay til word on the merger. Big payout? Anyone else get this option?

I am sure the delay in Demos Parneros' departure has something to do with bonus payouts or stock option grants. He is obviously the sacrificial lamb to take the hit for the falling stock price. Joe Doody (Vice Chairman) and John Burke (Chief Culture Officer) are also out. There is a rumor that SVPs will be phased out and RVPs will report directly to Otis.

If you read some of the other comments on this board it is fairly obvious the layoffs target people with longer tenure in their position. People with wears experience were let go while someone in the same position, hired in November remained.

In the field Staples has been conducting witch hunts on higher paid, experienced managers. They are harassed and eventually placed on performance improvement plans and then terminated for poor performance. Before you say Staples is a poorly performing company and people obviously needed to be fired for performance, the majority of these people had great track records until the last year.

They are quietly replacing the higher paid , experienced people, that's all there is to it.
