Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Who's responsible for these Layoff's? besides the low commodity prices, we were setup for failure by incompetent management's bad decisions.

I worked for BP for 5 years in houston and now work for Aramco in Saudi Arabia. I completely agree with you that BP lacks the ability to execute work/project effectively during scheduled time frame. TARs tends to extend beyond scheduled time frame due to poor coordination of third party activities and poor decision making from some of the asset managers. The blame lies squarely with management for letting this get out of control. Management is working on the premise the financial problem can be fixed by cutting projects and people and managing risks with minimus employees supporting the assets..

It's all the same throughout the industry right now. No management decisions could save any company from harm in this kind of price environment. And, m not management, and used to work for ConocoPhillips Until a few months ago 😱

Well I work for Shell. I used to work for BP. It's the same everywhere. When the price is good we make money all are happy.

Very accurate observations, I like this part the best " busy bees that produce no honey"

What I have witnessed during my tenure at BP is inability to efficiently execute.

It's all a massive cumbersome process that creates inertia, amongst busy bees that produce no honey,

The busy bees are very intelligent, but have fallen into the trap. The trap is like a swirling tornado, fast paced. with lots of communication but poor effect on creating value.

That's the BP I know. Raising tide lifts all boats. When oil prices were high, BP like all other operators flourished and could handle all the waste of time and money.

Now it's time for management to show how effective they've been, and you see how they failed.
