Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Job and Pay Grades

Any information as to when the new job/pay grade structure will be presented? I also heard a rumor that some of the HQ Non Exempt positions may become Exempt with that change. Any truth to this?

You are arguing over pay grades at a company thats average raise is 2% a year with a promotion being 5-10. It isn't like it makes a difference anyways. You want pay move to a company with higher growth potential and get out of retail.

Unfortunately the Target Layoff site has been taken over by a Troll who seems to actually argue with himself. No value here except "I'm smarter than you." Some good questions and point have been made, but then it just seems to turn personal. Too bad, this site used to have some value. Best to all! We work at Target, we're trying our best to get by. Cheers!

Pretty sure it all boils down to yet another step towards a RIF. Flattening out levels and pay grades will result in many TMs sharing titles with those who weren't previously peers and are being paid far less for essentially the same role (on paper anyway). This seems like a logical next step in unloading the more expensive tier of the middle layer. So yeah, you can say it's about helping people flourish, but let's be real.

Feed the trolls boys, feed the trolls.....

So what you're saying is that a TM who has been with Target 10-15 years will be able to continue to get raises when they just get a Satisfactory on their review instead of only an E or an O???

200488, this is off the shelf and you don't know shi!. Apparently you've been in a hole the last couple decades....or maybe in your momma's belly.

So why stir up Shi!? I think you know very little based on what you've said. The "model" isn't something off a shelf. I too have a couple dozen years behind me and have seen them. I your a tempest in a tea pot.

Ok, let's get down to this level. I'm currently a tgt team member that has previous experience with the model being proposed. DMG is director management group, LMG is lead management group, and TMSC is team member sevice center. Satisfied?

It will "give me away from resume." Is that even English???? Ok, what does DMG stand for? How about LMG? How about TMSC?

If I tell you it will give me away from resume. It ciuld be great if you want, to be an individual contributor the rest of your life. If you have aspirations of progression, forget it.

Oh this is rich.... You've seen "it." It by the way is Pyramid specific, so there isn't an "it" but I'm sure you know this. And because you're not an HR shill you then must be DMG. So, what is your DMG pay grade? Why would you make this up BTW?

I'm telling you as a non HR shill that I have seen it and it ain't in your benefit. When will you understand that companies only act in their own self interest, not yours. HR only acts in the best interest of the company.

Chiming in here: I've seen them and they are a consolidation of grades by position. Nothing more, nothing less. The pay ranges actually increase.

For clarity there are still higher pay grades for TMs to shoot for in promotional opportunities as there are low and middle ones. There's just no longer three to five grades for the same position. For example currently there are four pay grades for the same exact job in marketing because marketing was consolidated from different divisions over the years and HR hasn't updated pay grades by position since 2002. Each has a slightly different pay range in a separate grade. The same jobs will consolidate the grades into a larger range. It really is straight forward.

Why don't you do dome research on it before you espouse how great it is going to be for everyone. If you want to spend your entire career boxed in lower/ middle level it is great. If you want to be in upper level good luck.

200416, believe what you want. It ain't for your benefit. How many things has target done for your benefit. ..none, they are called HR professionals for a reason.

Maybe he is confusing the new vacation policy with this. I've also heard roll out at the beginning of the fiscal year.

Anonymous200416 hmmmm.... The number of pay grades is being reduced and the ranges are being increased. Not quite sure where you're coming from here. Not a conspiracy of any kind. The point is to be able to further incent "pros" for excelling in position as opposed to over promoting. The issue is the current grades cause "topping out." Limiting growth of salary in position.

I've worked places where they have implemented this model...it is 20+ years old and not for employee benefit. As always tgt, way behind the curve.

Actually the consolidated pay grade project is going to be great for the team. There are way too many pay grades and they create confusion and frustration because they do not provide enough flexibility in each pay range - each grade's range is too slim. The old model creates an environment where you have to be promoted to continue to increase your salary, versus staying in position and flourishing.

200375 shouldn't you be out supporting your "rural community." You obviously have zero value to ad to the OP's request, so why don't you leave and stop dumping on our community.

We're changing ours in Feb. Haven't heard anything about NE's becoming Exempt, pretty sure that's not happening.
